New Music Releases Thread

Two spins of the Wild Beasts album now. Would give it a 6/10. Alpha Female is without a doubt the worst song they've ever made. It's rank average and I'm a bit gutted. Some good songs in there but too much filler and a couple of real stinkers.

^ Just literally put the album on 30 seconds ago, was looking forward to it as well

Listened to Ulrika Spacek for the first time earlier after seeing them mentioned in here ages ago, tempted to go see them in November.

Wild Beasts have been shite since Smother. Staunch Mags as well

The new BadBadNotGood is a cracker

Go and see them, they're class. If any of you freaks from here fancy a beer when they play in Newcastle give me a shout!

Anybody else see Low last night at sage2 ? Absolutely superb in what has to best live music space in the country.
Every time I see them I am surprised by how good they are. I felt Mimi held them together as Alan's playing/singing was often wayward and different to the recordings (not always a bad thing), setting this one apart previous Low gigs I've seen over the last 15 years.

My first time and thought it was great. Couldn't get over how good mimis voice was live, especially on into you from ones and sixes.
Opening with Gentle was sublime. I was hooked in straight away.

Ones and Sixes contains some great Low songs and this gig reaffirmed that, although Lazy from I Could Live In Hope was probably the highlight of my night.

I'll join in with the Wild Beasts' new album is a bit dull parade after giving it the once over. Dinosaur Jr album sounds like DInosaur Jr post-reformation.

As an aside, it appears that the Maccapaccacaccabees have split up.

Liking the new songs I've heard from the dinosaur jr album, nothing new but back to what they did best. I see from their setlists that they're playing some stuff from the albums murph wasnt around for which they didnt do when he first rejoined them. That cut out a lot of good stuff. Might have to go see them in November, the setlists they're playing look great.

Bizarre collaboration that probably nobody but me cares about - "Love Songs for God and Women", an acoustic folk-pop duo consisting of Aussie singer-songwriter Ben Lee and American actor Josh Radnor. The album is currently being recorded and should be out in Autumn/winter.

I've had a couple of people drop off my spotify family plan. Got 2 spare spots just sitting doing nothing.

If anyone was interested in joining it would cost you only £2.50 a month for spotify premium. I'm pretty certain you can use it on existing accounts so if you already have one you wouldn't lose playlists etc.

If anyone is interested let me know and I'm sure we can sort it out.

Atmosphere for me today. Due to the lack of other releases today, I've also loaded Young The Giant to my phone.

Whitney's album is really enjoyable without being outstanding, definitely worth a few listens. Noname's debut mixtape Telefone from a couple of weeks back is excellent for any hip hop fans.
