This.
Brum is the 2nd largest UK city after that there Lahndun, iirc. Metropolitan area population of nearly 4 million. They just don't like footie anymore. Used to be different.

Sorry, but that's just condescending bull. Birmingham's population is around 1 million (not much more than tyneside) and it is home to two clubs. Extending that to the metropolitan area, the population is 2.4M (not 4 as you state) and means you also have to include teams like West Brom and Wolves.

You're wrong. Fact, as FSW would say:
2 Birmingham metropolitan area 3,737,000 (2,441,000), (359,000), (93,000), (86,000), / (80,000), (77,000), (71,000), (32,000), (24,000), (23,000), (22,000), (9,000), (7,000), (6,000)

Of course some will go over the top, there was some of yours predicting 7th/8th placed finishes for Sunderland next season yesterday. We do have more than most, I agree.

Just sit back and laugh when Benitez can't agree with Ashley/Charnley and we end up with Dave Bassett.
More likely to be Bruce, and being dispassionate that would give you a better chance of promotion

Well, the Villa's in the Championship, along with another "giant of the game", I'm afraid.
It's part of Birmingham-Wolverhampton (2,441,000), iirc.
It's a council ward in the centre of Brum, pop'n 32,000; good to see they all turned out against the scum.

The source I quoted is based on the constituent parts of a local government unit. I suspect it is probably more accurate than the second one you cite, which is almost certainly more geographical than geo-political.
Who gives a follow-through fart anyway? Brum is smaller than London and bigger than everywhere else.
They used to be proud of that and the epithet "the Empire's second city". Just like Villans used to be proud of Villa, justifiably so.
It's "its", btw.

Mags/Ashley will buy their way back up next season. Simple as that.
Why they need to buy ? Surely a world class manager like Bentiez will be able to do it spending next to nowt if the likes of Dyche have and Mick McCarthy in the past

Always assumed that Benitez would stay like. Possibly Valencia, though that would have surfaced by now. The Spain job is not likely as it just wouldn't suit him IMO. He is small print coach as they say, very thorough but caution to a fault which would not sit well with Spain, though it won't harm up there with that lot.

He has nothing to lose apart from his reputation. They really should win that League, but if he gets the backing , which can be assumed as it appears a condition of his staying, and he doesn't win it then his reputation, already somewhat below the heights it once was, will slip a good way.

The link you listed includes Coventry (amongst other smaller towns), the one I listed didn't.
