Lets All Laugh At Newcastle (Again!)

Our spine will likely be Elliott/Darlow, Dummett Lascelles, Colback Shelvey, Armstrong. Also, same was said about Jonas, Enrique and Coloccini last time and they were comfortably some of the best players down there.

We'll be fine.

Love the bravado! ;)

Im not so confident for yers.
2 good keepers like and the 2 defenders seem canny for that level, Colback will thrive at that level I guess but Shelvey who fecking knows, certainly not brought what I feared he would to the table, may even think he`s above the championship. No proven scorer.

So 4 maybe 5 dead certs to manage okay, you`s need another dozen by kick off, probably a manager too.

You`ll be fine! ;)

If we sell everyone bar them, we'll have raised significant funds, I'm pretty confident that side would be midtable, add some quality to it (like Dunk, Kodija(sp?) or Nakhi Wells) and we'll be grand. ;)

His price tag will scare off quite a few, plus he's not losing any money by playing in the Championship so I doubt he'll be off.

See, I don't think Mbemba will definitely go, and if he does we'll get enough to buy a Centre Back like Dunk for c£5m which is more than good enough for that league. Lascelles has been decent and will be better in that league with more games under his belt.

We don't have Carroll, but we do have Armstrong who's been scoring for fun in League 1. Like I said I don't see Mitrovic going, but similar to Mbemba, if he does go, we'll get enough to buy a striker who'll score enough to get us back up.

 I think you're in for a surprise. Because you have so many players on terrible, terrible contracts who are unmoveable or who you'll take massive losses on, you won't be holding teams to ransom for any of your players. Again if you look at Hull with Long, who I think they bought for a similar amount as you paid for Mitrovic, I think they got around 11 or 12 million for him. You might get a bit more thanks to Mitrovic's age, but don't be surprised at all if he goes for under £15 million.

Good luck finding a striker who'll score goals at that level as well by the way. The going rate for them is around £9-10 million. Given that I think you've that spent that much on a striker once in the past decade, I'm not sure why you would go out and put that money down now given you're in the Championship.

I don't think Newcastle are going to struggle by any stretch, but it's going to be a much, much harder year than you had the last time.

Shola Ameobi scored double figures, as did Peter Lovenkrands. I don't think it's as hard as you're making out. Hell Abel Hernandez has scored 20 and Gary Hooper has 13.

Newcastle will pay to get out of that league asap. We've £40m in the bank, say we make another £20m in player sales (not unlikely if all our players are off as you suggest), that's £60m we can spend before needing to go into debt. I don't think we will, but that's the financial position we're in.

Hernandez still cost more than any striker currently on your books. Your issue is when Mitrovic and Cisse fuck off you won't have anyone as good as Ameobi. He was well suited to that league. And to get promoted, you'll need someone who can get you 15+ goals. That pushes into Rhodes, Gray, McCormack territory. And they don't come cheap.

You think you'll spend, fair enough. Speculation at this point. Largely in the Ashley era you haven't though. It's up to him if he wants to gamble again and put his hand in his pocket.

As for having "£40m in the bank" Fat Mike recently said this:

"However, this has all gone on this season’s player recruitment, so when Ashley was asked how much was left in the bank account, he responded, “Virtually nothing. They have emptied it.”

Theres 21 strikers in that league who have double figures, you may have 1 or 2 next year but it guarantees little.

Honestly think its far less simple than you preseive mate. Personally I was dreading us having to get out of that league.

That's not what some of your colleagues insist.

So, the thing is, if there is an exodus there will come an influx of cash. We'll be one of the biggest teams down there and we'll be amongst the favourites to get automatic promotion. Because of these factors we'll be a big draw for a lot of players who operate at the top of that level. We'll be able to attract a good standard of loan players from the top Premier League clubs as well. So if we do see wholesale changes, we'll still be in a good position to bounce straight back.

Having been down there recently I can promise you, that league is not all Sky make it out to be. Every year it's competitive, every year the promoted sides are favourites for the drop the subsequent May. Your man Allardyce cruised the Championship with West Ham, Chris Hughton cruised the Championship with us. Our biggest challenge could be Aston Villa. If these new Chinese investors get it right they could match us stride for stride.
