Newcastle Manager Situation

Surely the fact he (Benitez) has never been in a relegation scrap speaks volumes for his caliber. He is that good he has never gone down with a club.

not disputing the bloke credential... more his experience being at the wrong end of the table.
and inheriting a calamitous ominshambles basket case of a club

Either that or he's had the good sense and vision to eff off before the excrement collided with the ventilation.

Facts are a new manager gives the players an instant lift, whether it's different tactics or new ideas, fresh face but they will get a response for sure, happened to us several times
Just have to hope we out point them over the remaining games, win the derby and am confident of doing exactly that.

say what you like about supporting Sunderland 'hope' and 'delusion' usually get the shit kicked out of them early on...
It's better that way ( not that we ever had the luxury of choice) keeps us real, grounded, and above all else strong in character. Three things the morlocks don't even know exist.

If they do get Benitez it would be a coup, but its interesting to note that he might join them now, in their plight, the middle of a relegation scrap. Why couldn't they attract a manager of such 'calibre' in the close season before McClaren?

the new gaffer will have them full of wind and piss, back to their delusional best and ripe for a fall - whereas we'll be concentrating on the game instead of the occassion

Indeed, it will be second only to the messiahs return when we had the spectacle of boxes of special K cereal on their heads, and king kev masks free with the ronnie and a 6 page souvenier supplement , you know what they are like

He's a good manager, Carragher Gerrrard even f***ing Bellamy speak highly of him with regards to tactical approach and he will also have them giving 100% commitment he demands more from players even when they win... Knows how to set up a team in a big game too. Bah i wish they were linked with someone proper shit.

Anyone a bit concerned that with Tufty about to be sacked (once Sky Sports tell NUFC when to give him the chop) the new manager (whoever he is) "bounce" might just possibly influence the derby ...
Not me. Ever tried to get a bounce out of a bust ball ?

This. f***ing tedious saying, end of the day they're shit, we're looking better and we've not got a bad manager ourselves! Bring it on!
Waheyy well said marra.

I'm not clutching at straws at all. I said he did very well but, David O'Leary got to the semis, Avram Grant, the final and Di Matteo won it.

So just to confirm David O'Leary never ever got to a European Cup final once, never mind twice in 3 years and winning it once? Cheers.

Cos he will be getting paid a fortune and it's not far off the end of the season so he won't have any other opportunities

nar im really not concerned at all, rafa has no experience of a relegation battle this squad will arguably be the weakest he has experienced, he cant change that they will still have no striker that scores consistently and a defence with more holes in it than swiss cheese, had he became manager rather than tufty last summer i may have been slightly worried but although tufty is a clown most of this shite from the mags is down to the players not him

He's a good appointment if they get him no doubt. Certainly better than appointing Shearer at this stage :lol:.

Has it been confirmed yet? Hopefully it falls through and they stick with McClaren

It is a coup for them like, he's a big name. Time will tell how he does.

Long term I think it'll end up being pretty poor

Gerrard has a right go in his book saying he doesn't really have a closeness with his players. Doesn't say he's the best manager he's played under either.

Incredible to think Newcastle missed out on that lift when they appointed Carver.

And even more incredible to think that they had 3 'new manager bounces' in 2009 and still managed to force their way into the bottom 3

Didn't the Newcastle players just go public and say they were 100% committed under McClaren?

Is it?.....PDC, GP, and DA....says it's not mate!
Not worried about the Derby but if he is appointed they will stay up.

Hughton, Kinnear, Shearer, Carver ....... says it is mate!

In fact add McClaren to the list ....... Carver had them 4th bottom and they've slipped down 2 places
