Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Why not the mam ? it was her who told her what he did was wrong.
Because the dad stood up in court and told everyone that she told him. I doubt he'd lie under oath over something as trivial as which parent was told first!

What it comes down to mate, legally speaking, is that a child is a child irrespective of what they say, do with their money, how they act on social media, and that there is a difference between an adult and a child, even a child trying to act like an adult (which, let's face it, is just an essential characteristic of being a kid, wanting to be older).

It doesn't matter what a child does, or how that might confuse you-they're a child. You, as an adult, know the difference. There's no excuse for an adult taking advantage of them. Not even the child wanting to be taken advantage of. It's a matter of responsibility and trust, and not abusing those. There's never an excuse in these situations, it's never understandable, or acceptable. There are no grey areas when it comes to Adults taking advantage of Children. What they do is literally irrelevant and it's frankly a bit creepy when people start trying to suggest that their actions are somehow relevant in these situations. They're a bairn.
Fair & well thought out post.

Johnson has done an outrageous and indecent thing. But is it really modern society where 15 yearolds;

  • Try to engage in real life interaction with men 12 years their senior
  • Purchase their friends £50 lingere sets
  • Brag in group messages about wanting to ride people
  • Go to parties and get mortal drunk
?

15 year olds were like that when I were a nipper in the 80's man - if anything their behaviour may have improved. 15 year olds are not known for their good decision making or emotional control - they never have been, that is why we don't allow them the right to consent to sex and expect adults to respect that fact.

Well I've changed my mind about this matter over the last few days. Yes Johnson deserves to go to jail and the club should not have played him if they knew what the police had evidence of. Huge mistake by management.
However the outpourings by the media continually referring to the girl as "the child" and the police overstepping their role by sending tecs to the BBC to put the boot in SAFC have made me more ready to stick up for MY Club.

I think we should hope the club correct their mistake and other than that say STUFF EM all we are Sunderland.

So what are you saying then? That she got what she deserved? At least be man enough to say it instead of bullet pointing "sexy lingerie sets" like you work for the Daily Mail.

Who deemed them sexy anyway? Apart from Mackem DJ?

I don't think using social media output as evidence of someone's actual personality is reliable. Most people talk absolute shite on line and a lot say things that they wouldn't dream of saying in the flesh.

Imagine being the sort of person trying to justify what Johnson has done. What difference does it make if it was her who sent him the friend request? Blaming the victim is an utterly pathetic attempt to defend Johnson and possibly the club.

He deserves whatever sentence he is given. His actions have cast a shadow over the club I love, he can rot in jail for all I care.

Totally irrelevant. Even if she said on her social media account that she wanted to have sex with him and gave written consent for him to have sex with her it doesn't matter, she's a child, it's illegal for adults to do most things with random kids, for very good reason, regardless of what they say and want, and it literally doesn't matter what they say or want. Absolutely irrelevant.

Where did I say that? Fuck me I can tell you live on the meadow well. Jesus.

I may well live on the Meadowell (I don't) but I can at least console myself knowing I'm not an apologist for a sex offender. Which makes one of us.

Ive already answered that, the 12 people in the jury, 2 of them wern't convinced either.

I thought that the judge said it had to be 12-0, in all honesty I think the bloke is a f***ing idiot, but when it comes down to it, it seems to be his word against hers. I understand he has appealed, I suspect this is going to get really messy for her and her family

I think you have rather missed my point by a good way.

What are you on about? If he'd done the same to a girl who had just turned 16 he'd still have done a terrible thing, the difference being he wouldn't have got in trouble for it.
