Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Fair enough. Whenever I heard the inappropriate AJ stuff, which tbf was only half a dozen times after his arrest, and was always a complete minority, I never heard them challenged, but neither did I as I'm confrontation adverse. If you would have done so good for you.

I've never shied away from confrontation as my posts, over the years, will testify as would those who know me.

I'm a Christian and very considered in my principles which I'll defend whenever possible.

In reality, with provocative banners, very little needs to be done ....... the slightest kerfuffle and the stewards will be in to sort things out.

Shouting and making a fuss always gets them interested but if people take things to another level I'll react as I see fit.

Exactly, the club waited until the pleas were entered, as soon as it was official he was pleading guilty then he was sacked, imagine the shit storm the club would have faced if they sacked him last year and he was not guilty of all charges now

at least as the fans watched us play Rotherham we'd have done the right thing ;)

Sadly, that was always on the cards if he was found guilty. And that's down to the club's decision to allow him to continue to play. If they'd upheld his suspension, it wouldn't have happened
I disagree, regardless of the clubs response it would have happened. Edwards tweeting about us singing songs has absolutely nothing to do with the clubs response. He couldn't wait to stick the boot in when he accused Johnson of doing an aeroplane celebration at the Derby.
Whatever side of the fence in the club response argument they would always have had a go at the fans at some point.

If people are saying The head of the investigation and Durham police force are lying, then they can not be taken seriously. This coupled with the QC comments added to the statement that didn't address the issues, is far to much to ignore.

Apparently not - the latest line is that they were given the documents but rather than looking at them, they just passed them onto the QC. That seems likely!

There's a minority who will believe anything as long as it isn't bad for SAFC.

I actually agree with you for once in this thread:

Or the statement of the detective in Court under oath

“Myself and a colleague went to meet Margaret Byrne to discuss the offences and consider safeguarding for any other young people he may come in contact with through his work as a professional football player.”

DI Sampson went on to say that what Johnson had told police in interview was not disclosed to the club.

His first interview with the police was last year though and in that interview he admitted kissing and sending texts to a 15 year old schoolgirl.
He then, after admitting what he had to police in his initial interview pleaded not guilty to all 4 charges in June 2015.
Sorry if I'm getting crossed wires about what you are asking.
Did you see a written copy of his initial admission? Just wondered how you seem so definite that he confessed?

The club have said that they will not make a further statement, having initially skirted around the issues that were raised about their conduct. That's telling. Why are the club not denying what the QC and lead investigator have said, if they can?
I've said I don't know, but neither does anyone.

Another victim blamer. Newsflash, the prerogative is on the ADULT not to groom the CHILD... not the child to stop the adult.

She clearly said in court she enjoyed the attention at the time (although found it weird) and only afterwards realised how strange it was and she felt uncomfortable.

Just playing devils advocate, but I know for a fact if this lass was from Newcastle half this board would be saying it was a set up/conspiracy.

You would think that would be obvious, but sadly not...

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the club's statement implies that they were completely blindsided by the tactics of Johnson and/or Orlando Bloom QC?

That's the way I'm leaning, I just find it so hard to believe that the club could have reviewed the evidence against him in the way it's suggested and then made such a terrible judgement.

The focus is, understandably, on Margaret Byrne due to her being in the meeting and being CEO but such a major issue must have been discussed at board level. I can't believe that, having reviewed the evidence against him, nobody in the executive team would have had the foresight to see the current toxic position the club finds itself in. In that situation, how on earth had they expected things to turn out?

I also don't really understand why the club would be given documents to forward straight on to his QC
