Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

:eek::eek: Holy shit, really?

Can you not see the flaw in arguing that it's not worth denying an allegation because you're going to get into a he said/she said deal? It's one thing to suggest that the club should make no comment about being accused of doing something wrong, but they didn't do that, did they? They issued a statement specifically to respond to allegations made during the trial (so it's worth responding to allegations made during the trial). They went to a lot of effort to refute "in the strongest terms" an allegation which they took exception to (so if someone has accused you of something which isn't true and could put you in a bad light, it's appropriate to refute it). They then decline the opportunity to even discuss the two main allegations which are getting them kicked all over the park. That's not just ignoring the elephant in the room, that's ignoring the elephant, and the massive f***ing brachiosaurus that's also crammed into the room, roaring loudly and teabagging the elephant.

Almost 200 pages and no one has a remotely adequate answer as to why the club has got itself into this position and is being smashed all over the shop in the world's press and the CEO being doorstepped by an army of journalists.

Mate, I respect people's opinions on the matter and I appreciate it has angered some fans, but this place has a history of blowing things up a bit. Yes we are receiving criticism in the press, but we are hardly being "smashed". Personally I am still of the opinion the press will move on in the next 24hrs and we can then address any issues between the fans/club without the media acting like twats.

In the past I have been hugely critical of the club's handling of the media and their failure to act decisively. If the club have any sense, they will have appointed a legal/media team to manage the Johnson thing. If they haven't, they are quite simply idiots.

Just because he's a mod is he not entitled to an opinion.

Not saying he's not entitled to an opinion, just saying I doubt there's one mod on here who thinks the club have ballsed up on this. It seems to come with the territory, somewhat.

Exactly - as there was no evidence that he had done it.

In this instance, there is evidence that the club knew what Johnson had done and still allowed him to play.

There are allegations which may, or may not, be classed as evidence ....... I suppose it depends on how you prefer to see it.

As usual our club may and I stress may have fecked up again but there again, they may not have.
We will get enough shit from the nation's media without giving them ammo.
What has happened has happened, let's move on.
Can't understand all the fannyfarts on here, we are in a relegation battle in case you've forgotten.
So because we're near he bottom of the table we can't question the club's behaviour in this case?

When would it be okay? 15th? 8th?

As far as evidence goes, an unequivocal statement made by a QC (with first-hand knowledge) in Crown Court ranks quite high. Especially when that statement goes unrefuted.

Some of it are allegations that could be taken lightly... eg. what AJ said... the QC corroborating it should have alarm bells ringing... the statement from the police is pretty damning... all three together surely count as evidence, and they certainly count as a lot more evidence than anything SAFC has offered to refute them.

That bit won't happen.

It may die down or not - although under Short and Byrne, they have form for trying to ride out controversy by saying nothing, and then having to backtrack a few days later because they have completely ballsed up the media management.

But if it does die down, the outcome of that won't be that Short, or Byrne, or anyone else from the club, makes any kind of effort to communicate with the fans. They've never done that since they got here.

They might send out Jimmy Montgomery and Kevin Ball to the Fan Zone to say something, I suppose.

its still mob mentality to feed the frenzy, if you think that's okay that's up to you.

Shall we just not hold her to account then?

Fuck me, I tell you what, let's just let the club do as it pleases, with no accountability whatsoever. How dare we question them
