Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Why do you think then, that the club didn't explicitly denying having knowledge that Johnson had admitted some guilt and had seen some evidence of his guilt? Given that is what they have been accused of, and that is what is doing the damage? The tone of their post was to "refute in the strongest possible terms" an allegation that no one is making and no one gives a shit about, but to fail to mention the allegation that is leading to them getting their arses smacked all over the planet.

I've said all I want to say on the subject about what I think happened. Check my previous posts if you really want to know but I really can't be arsed going over the same ground time and time again.

I think there's a fair few getting the wrong end of the stick from that statement to be honest

Of course Byrne knew about the allegations. She didn't just find out about him when a trial suddenly started one day. We know this already.

What we don't know and would like clarification on is whether or not she was given evidence to prove that Johnson had committed the offence in question. Also whether or not Johnson had actually admitted the offence to her.

This statement doesn't answer those 2 points. It basically just tells us they told her Johnson had been arrested and why

You're absolutely right, however the club have stated they had no knowledge which would allow them to ascertain his guilt.

"Some documents were received relating to the case, which were immediately sent to Mr. Pownall for his attention. However, the club was not in a position to make any judgment on the outcome of the case"

That's your opinion marra.

From the clubs point of view the important fact regarding how they proceed with his employment was whether he was guilty of what he was charged with and they have answered this.

They have also confirmed they acted on legal advice and advice from the relevant agencies regarding safeguarding children.
They aren't getting slated for acting illegally.

They are getting slated for playing him when they had evidence he was likely guilty. The club have neither confirmed or denied this.

That's not what they said. You can have knowledge which would ascertain someone's guilt but not feel in a position to judge it because you feel a court should, or whatever. They're different.

They weren't entitled to see it at all as they don't have the power to legally obtain such information.

Apparently they were, be that for safeguarding reasons, as his employer (given that he committed the crime in his capacity as an employee, as a result of his role at the club), because Johnson allowed the club to see it all or a combination of the three. What appears to be clear is that the information was given to the club. They knew.

The chief investigator and AJ himself told the club. We have allowed him to continue playing whilst knowing he was grooming and kissing a 15 year old girl. I have no idea why people find that acceptable.

"There was a detailed meeting on March 2nd where the club were told he messaged and kissed the girl"

That is no hearsay. It's fact from a very respectable person on the case.

Why on earth shouldn't we be annoyed that the club seemingly allowed our great support to cheer a sex offender up until February this year. It's shameful.

If Margaret B ends up getting the sack off the back of this maybe I'll be happy but f***ing hell man.

Stop the hysteria
Stop the faux outrage
Stop the attention seeking
Stop the contrition
Stop the hollier than thou bullshit

If you all feel that strongly fuck off and support the mags, don't let the door smack your arse on the way out.

They have:

It's not media hysteria - it's a very serious issue which the media are rightly pursuing. The Club may well have not broken the law, but that does not mean that they have not acted improperly and if they have, they should be held accountable.

A serious issue is when someone has broken the law.

Held accountable for what? Poor judgement in your opinion, that's not an offence I am afraid.

Was the club told Johnson was aware she was 15 at the time?

Are you for real? Are you seriously failing to realise how serious this is, and how entitled people are to be outraged by it? There is nothing "faux" about this at all.

They weren't, but they can still suspend him.

So if someone tells you he committed a crime, but that he's going to plead not guilty, you are not entitled to look upon him as guilty unless and until he's found guilty in court?

You have absolutely no idea what he (Johnson) did or did not tell his employer because you weren't there, so in the context of this case, your question is irrelevant

There's more than one or two faux Sunderland fans posting outrage on this thread.
