Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Plus we had PFA involved.
I don't see the PFA getting mentioned in the papers? All they give a fuck about is selling a story, they don't give a shit about the truth or about justice

What have the PFA got to do with Sunderland's decision to name him in matchday squads after he was charged?

This! Im a SAFC fans and so I really do want to believe them. If it was the clubs word vs Johnson I would of course believe my club. But its Johnsons word and no denial currently.

which makes the whole issue sound as if, what he said is true and they dare not disagree, because of what may come from that, because that's how it looks to me

like i said before to prehab, massive and for me, its just begun, the media won't be happy until she comes out with a statement, or resigns, or some other such action taking place, the whole county is watching right now, and at the moment, our reputation is in the bin, god knows what is gonna be like come summer trying to sign players because no doubt there will be a few of them very interested in the next few days and weeks.

Are you saying this is going to put players off signing for us?

This will be history soon enough, there's always another celebrity outrage around the corner for people to be histrionic about.
Since this court case started there's probably been a hundred much more vile crimes committed than what he did, that will never be punished or reported.
It's quite hilarious that he has paid a kings ransom for an amazing legal team, and they managed to get him a punishment more severe than some murderers get.

He's spent a lot of time on this thread quoting others and picking their postings apart but as soon as someone does it to him 'I was just being flippant' and 'I didn't really mean that'.

He lost it by saying he would take a viewpoint if this was happening to another club. A crime as serious as this goes beyond any petty football rivalry. Well, you would have thought so, anyway.

It's like trying to catch a wet fish, or summit. As soon as you get your hands on what he's posting he slips out and says he actually meant something different.

Agreed completely on the latter point mind.

He wasn't really involved much at the back end of last season was he? Some substitute appearances but certainly not a large part of the reason we stayed up, can't have been many games/points won after the meeting they had in May
Just looking back at it seems that he only did the following

02 May - Southampton - 9 mins
9th May - Everton - 34 mins - 1 assist
17th May - Leicester - 31 mins
20th May - Arsenal - 74 mins
24th May - Chelsea - 74 mins - 1 assist

So apart from Everton he didn't really contribute much (but it's hard to argue whether that assist in the everton game secured the three points and so kept us up?)

At what point did I have to start answering to you, like? I have no idea who you are.

You don't, but you did.

Answer or don't answer, I couldn't care less ...... but it won't stop me commenting on what you place on a public forum

As I said in the other thread, they have to be very careful as to anything they say.
The shitehawks are waiting, ready to twist anything said to their own means. #S Bird

If the club have done what is alleged here, merely sacking Byrne won't make the issue go away, anyway.

She's the person named in court as being in receipt of the evidence to implicate Johnson as well as being the most senior member of staff (apart from Short).

There's nothing to suggest this has gone any higher than her, as yet.

Her statement last night that it was akin to the Saville case removed any credibility she MIGHT have had and demeaned all those victims of Saville. What ever side of the fence you are on in this argument it can be no way considered remotely similar to his systematic abuse of hundreds over the years.
Agreed there can be no justification in drawing comparisons like that.

Get where your coming from but my stance is the club don't have to respond to what a liar claims. Like I said, makes no sense his own QC would hand over incriminating evidence. FWIW, I do think he knew he was guilty and was 'advised' to claim not guilty to carry on getting paid. That's why I find the whole idea that that very same QC, who was advising his client, would then undermine his client by handing over incriminating evidence. Doesn't make sense to me but again, just my opinion on it.

As you and I are probably aware it is against the barristers code of ethics to continue to defend a client in a not guilty plea when there is (as said on here) there is clear evidence to substantiate guilt. If that evidence is there the barrister must refuse to defend the client.

Now that said, the incriminating evidence was handed early 2015, yet how many dates since then has Johnson been at court and denied all charges must be 3 or 4. That means a QC, his junior have broken the ethics of there profession on a number of occaisions. That is not going to happen

Are you saying this is going to put players off signing for us?

well i am not sure, but if you were a player watching all of this what would you think ? if it were me i would be thinking i am not signing for them, but again it depends on what said players think, maybe some will and maybe some won't, but it could put a few off it is possible.

The investigating officer said in court that the police did not discuss the evidence with the club, their discussions were only around the nature of the allegations as part of the club's safeguarding/risk assessment. Presumably anything given to the club was via Johnson/his legal team, alongside his ongoing claims of not guilty and his/his legal team's belief that he would be found not guilty once the full evidence was presented.

Obviously part of the cover up ...... his position must now be untenable.

Kudos for one of the worst contributions to the thread.

1) Is it really histrionic that people are outraged a player for us has groomed and engaged in sexual activity with a minor?
2) ??? What are you on about? Of course there will be many worse crimes committed. What relevance does that have to anything discussed here.
3) a) He hasn't been sentenced yet b) He won't get a sentence 'longer than some murders'. No chance.

2/10, must try better.

Jesus Christ man, continually repeating what was said in court achieves nowt.
We all know what was said in court but people are questioning whether or not it's true. How many times?

So if you can't believe what's said under oath there's no chance of people believing a statement or whatever is there?

This is my longest thread marathon by a f***ing length.

It involves; Sunderland AFC, a criminal trial, Margaret Byrne f***ing up, a badly worded statement, Reiver and Janey getting the wrong end of the stick repeatedly. Even a few posts from Ollie C defending anything and everything the club ever does.

I was never going to not post a lot in this one...

Don't forget dictating the PF email to the club

must admit I feel more content with the club over this now since Allardyce has said a few things today. time to move on, we've got a massive game on Saturday.

What Allardyce said had nothing to do with any of this. There has never been any suggestion he saw the whatsapp messages or discussed the details of the case with AJ and I wouldn't expect him to have.

This whole issue is about Byrne and senior management. Only they can respond.
