Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

Glad we're allowed to post about it now.

It seemed any posts during the trial wouldn't last 10 seconds lol

Bit of both, be angry at Johnson

SAFC is not the big story here, despite how hard you try do make it

A footballer made a stupid mistake, thick as fuck, pleaded guilty, was sacked, and then was sent to jail. Blame him, not the club.

It is fairly black and white

You're obviously confused here, there is more than 1 issue here.

Everyone is angry at Johnson, there's no point spouting off about that, it goes without saying & he's being dealt with by the courts.

However the clubs actions have left themselves open to some pretty serious accusations. Anyone with a right mind would want those decisions questioning.

It's the regular contact with children that would be an issue for a teacher. I'm not denying he used his job to groom the girl, it's just not the same after that. Not even a little bit similar.

He's met her through his work - similar.
He's abused his trust via their mutual connection to his employer - similar.

And in the case of AJ it's not an issue that he's still playing football, scoring goals, on national TV, when that is the EXACT mechanism he used in the past to groom a child? Rightio...

I couldn't give a shit, he wasn't a "nonce", actually stop using stupid language like that, he wasn't guilty, until he pleaded guilty at the trial and until the jury found him guilty

He was not guilty one day or 1 second before that, its our the legal system works.
Stupid language? What words should I use to describe the convicted child molester?

The majority of the people on this thread don't.

You are in the minority

Thats the bit that I can't understand, why was he allowed to return after the original suspension?

It's hard to say from the clubs statement but I think they're attempting to explain it by saying A. He pleaded his innocence and misled us and B. The PFA were consulted on the issue.

IMO, and I know not everyone agrees, I don't think that is enough of an explanation as to why the suspension was lifted. A bit more clarity on those PFA consultations would be useful.

Johnson is the big story of course. Though it doesn't sound like a stupid mistake to me, it sounds like he knew exactly what he was doing over a period of time. A 'mistake' trivialises his behaviour.

Secondly, SAFC are part of the story whether we like it or not. They were aware of the accusations and his arrest, suspended him on that basis, then lifted his suspension allowing him to represent the club whilst the investigation was ongoing. That is very much a talking point for not only those who follow the clubs fortunes closely, ie us, the supporters, but also for a more national audience.

Jorno Jerry Lawton quoting the judge directly.

Judge: After his arrest told Sunderland AFC he had `passionately kissed' schoolgirl and had been `aroused'

Is the judge lying now?

 is this a woosh?

He was summarising the evidence provided by the DEFENCE,

This isn't outside evidence brought in by the judge man ffs

I think you need a few lessons about how trials work.

And, by extension, some will have every right to walk away from the club, if these allegations are true. The smell won't go away just by sacking senior figures, either.

Aye but the average person will still be about half way through reading the club statement and still confused about what it does or doesn't say. Also the average SAFC isn't exactly going to be unbiased on it.

I could well retort and say the entire media, and most public opinion in the UK thinks the club fucked up. It's meaningless to say who 'has the most people on their side'

There's no way I'm reading 116 pages of this so presume it's been discussed but does this taint the derby victories to a certain extent.

I'm still buzzing about six in a row but it's just a shame this despicable **** played such a big part isn't it? It's not something I'll ever admit to any Newcastle fan I know but deep down it doesn't quite feel the same.

Prick

Whos doing that like?

From the agreed facts in the case & the statement the club have either been incompetent in not reviewing the evidence they had to hand or have deliberately turned a blind eye to it.

You might be happy with that but I'm not, there are people at the club who should be made accountable for their actions & certainly still have a case to answer.

Maybe they allowed a criminal investigation to be conducted by the police and courts?
