Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

What's funny? If they've seen these messages, then believed him when he said he's going to plead not guilty, how isn't that exactly what I've just outlined above?

It's funny that you think the club were banking on him getting away with a serious criminal offence despite seeing damning evidence.

That just makes no sense mate.

Whatever the case you're arguing a case without the full facts but knock yersel out.

But he was pleading not guilty and, according to the statement, he and his legal team expected to get off. It appears the club have been led a dance so that Johnson could maximise his income to the tube of £3M before being sent down.

It's a very strange dance they were led upon when they had his whatsapps and police station interview, the former in which he was grooming the girl, and the latter where he admitted to kissing her, which were the two offences he pleaded guilty to.

Put him on gardening leave at the least. Having access to that information there is no way we should have made him available for selection.
Would that have had an effect on his case given he was pleading innocence at the time? I'm genuinely not sure as I havent a f***ing clue about the legal system.

14 years is the maximum according the papers yesterday, because of her age it wouldnt be the max which is where they're getting the figure of 5-10 from. i honesly don't think his status makes any difference to the judge here.

Anal mate but our justice system is usually lenient on kiddie touchers

Did the club know that Johnson kissed the girl? Did the club know that in doing so, he was aware she was under the age of consent? Did the club view documents confirming these events?

All they've done is say he wasn't going to change his plea.

It sounds very much like it's possible they knew he'd done it, but backed him to get away with it.

Sounds like the club did know he kissed the girl, but thought Johnson thought she was 16 at the time , backed him after this and had no idea he was going to plead guilty, sacked him straight away when he did...

It's time SAFC got on trying to stay in the premier league, and put Johnson out of there mind, not our player anymore, let's make the statement from the club, the last.....

Well lads, I'm off to do a bit of work ....... I'll pop by later to see what progress has been made in proving the case.

The people versus SAFC

They had the police station interviews, in his police station interview he said he knew she was 15. This isn't speculation, these are undisputed facts that came out in trial. There's no need to speculate when we actually have most the information out there.

Do you think the paper made up what was said?

Show me a court case where there are full transcripts post trial in the media.

I've explained this over and over to you, they take a small quote and blow it up into an entire story when it's not even clear that the statement made in court is exactly what has happened which we discussed a lot last night.

Posting yet more stories based on the same small exchange that we haven't even heard in full adds nothing to this debate.

We needed him last March.

Regardless of what the club did / didn't know it is a fact that we needed him.

I think that if Johnson had confessed his guilt to the club (or his intention to plead guilty ) before the trial, it would have been impossible to stop this being leaked from within SAFC

Not really - I've seen little in this whole thing, or football as a whole, to suggest its unfeasible that they could choose to take this course of action.

You're arguing under precisely the same circumstances, so less of the patronising tone please.

This is a key bit. If they knew he'd kissed her, but hadn't seen evidence of him knowing she was 16, it changes things entirely.

The fact is, the statement was fluff and skirted over the main accusations leveled at the club.

I don't want them to investigate the case. I want them to take what they have been told and shown (allegedly), apply good ethics and morals and make the right decisions. Not allow us, the fans, to continue to support a sex offender for the best part of a year.

You knew about the allegations, you could have decided not to support him without knowing any evidence about the case.
