Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I agree, wasn't saying at as a reason not to talk about it, but the whole thing just reduces to anger and fighting, he's been found guilty and no amount of arguing or debating will change that.
Just move on, he's history.
agree janey, there is also the very real risk that some 'careless' choice of words used in expressing that anger will tip over into defamation. Whole different ball game then for both this board's survival and the person giving 'vent' to genuinely held though emotionally charged 'false' views.

I'm mixed over this. On one hand I think the club could have handed it better but on the other I think that utter fuckwit has put them in a position where they can't win.

I'm certainly not inclined to be to hard on the club based on the words of that fucker Jo*nson

They need to employ CEO's who are a better judge of character then in future.

NB Mr Short.

Club is in damage limitation mode. Hope the without foundation rumour is really without foundation.

Otherwise we are going to look really really bad over this.

I don't know, maybe they have their reasons, maybe if he has lied they can't say so.
I'm just not willing to beat them around the head having been on the end of people lying under oath to win cases against me.
Mate. His barrister isn't going to be lying and the club have purposely ignored his allegation in the statement. It stinks.

That the club had been told of Johnson himself in the presence of his legal team and dad that he had kissed the girl.
Yeah they deny not knowing he was going to plea guilty but it's just an irritating that they aren't responding to the direct accusation that was made.

That's what he claimed in court but he has also been shown up repeatedly to be a liar. Remember the context in which he claims to have told the club back in May:

It was put to him he pleaded not guilty on all counts, duping everybody in the process, only in order to prolong his playing career and carry on drawing his 60k a week wage. He denied this, saying he carried on playing because the club wanted him to, despite him telling them from the start what he had done.

So it wasn't just a throw away comment from him which he would have no cause to lie about. It was part of him was rebuffing an accusation from the prosecution, as to his motives for carrying on playing. In a nutshell, he is a proven and self-confessed liar who also had a motive to lie about whether or not the club was aware of what he had done. Given that he was denying all charges in June, it seems odd he would have admitted his guilt to anybody a month before that.

It's also important to remember where this fits into his defence's case. In an attempt to portray him as an honest man, his QC argued in court (unsuccessfully, ultimately) that he only lied initially to the police because he panicked. He subsequently then went home and confessed all to his partner, not only about this but about the other women too. This was part of the defence's argument that, despite having lied repeatedly to the police on his arrest, this was essentially out of character and that everything he had done or said since, including his denial of the 2 further counts, was truthful and honest. Admitting he had kept the truth a secret from the club all along would not have tied in with that argument.

I take his barristers word at face value. Then by coincidence the club ignore his allegation and don't tell us what documents they actually received.

If people want to bury their heads in the sand and think the qc was lying in court then fair enough.

The bloke is a proven lair and nothing should hide that.

Quite simply, he told the club he was innocent and denied the charges. The bloke is an utter scumbag who has let down a lot of people

Did that meeting not take place after we'd secured our safety making nonsense of other accusations

If they sacked him on the spot it would be exactly what the people who run this site are terrified of, sub judice. Personally I think the club now have ample cause to sue him for the money he effectively stole, having lied to both the police and club in order to keep making money.

What do you mean lied to the club? The club had some of his documents, presumably the ones Johnson said they did, how has he lied to them? They haven't accused him of lying to him?

And IMO, as has been said from the beginning, they should have suspended him with pay, imo.

You are making the mistake of assuming it's the barrister's word - it's not. He is the advocat of his client. The barrister makes no claims of his own, merely those of his client.
He's presenting JOHNSON's case and JOHNSON's word.

Otherwise, half the barristers in court (the losers) would be liars and they are not. Many of their clients are though.

Why are you and plenty others ignoring the fact his QC said it, said Byrne had evidence and was told he kissed the girl. Because it doesn't suit the agenda of defending the club?
