Fully agree, too many teams point at history 30+ years a go to justify that they're still a big club.
If you haven't been in the mix for regular trophies for decades then I'm afraid you're no longer a big club.
Big clubs look into the future for what they're going to win, wannabees look into the past on what they did decades a go to justify their self proclaimed big club status.
There is probably something in that - but to think you are anywhere even remotely close to overtaking Everton is, well, f***ing laughable. Another interpretation is that Liverpool fans, like Newcastle's, are deluded enough about their own statusto not see Leicester as any danger to them, long or short term- Everton fans can actually read a league table and see what everyone else sees, Leicester doing superbly so far this year.
So that's why you dug up Richard III.Fully agree, too many teams point at history 30+ years a go to justify that they're still a big club.

It's all about revenue as @Wrenthorpe Mackem has obviously fully grasped.
The "big six" generate a huge amount of more money than the 7th & 8th (Everton & Newcastle).
I've never claimed Leicester have overtaken Everton in the pecking order but to say "are anywhere even remotely close to overtaking Everton" is just plain wrong.
There is a possibility that Leicester get Champions League next season and we would start to generate more money than Everton and have a better pick of players. We get in more decent players and before you know it Leicester have a team capable of challenging for the top four.
I'm not saying it will happen or is likely to happen but Leicester are closer to Everton than Everton are closer to Tottenham in today's climate.
Your tailored logic suggest you should watch out for West Ham sailing past you, they will have not only revenue, but guaranteed profitability to allow them to run riot with FFP regs. Bit of crystal ball gazing about the future there of course, even with a CL (qualifying round) appearance there is no sure way to ensure it is a stepping stone to something bigger. One swallow, after all, doesn't make a relationship.
Agreed and that's why I said:
I'm not saying it will happen or is likely to happen
I'm sure you will agree it will be a sad day when it is 100% about money - even at 90% - without a little bit of magic and hope what would the point be. And that is why no genuine fan can really begrudge Leicester or anyone 'unfashionable' knocking around the top of the table at halfway. It may even be that some of the perceived bitterness from other sets of fans is simply jealousy - when did Everton last lead the way at the top for example.
Bit of an underground classicI can see a time when there are maybe ten clubs like Bournemouth knocking around the PL at the expense of the traditional bigger clubs. Bournemouth now generate more money than Lazio and anyone suggesting that Bournemouth could compete with Lazio financially 20 years a go would have been laughed at.
This reminds me of this thread when @Icarebecauseyoudo was roundly ridiculed for his view but anyone with half a brain can see he is right.

Proper dickhead just trying to be funny. Ps and talking shite.Actually, you have highlighted a good point.
Swansea will never sign one of our players unless we don't want him (see the **** we had off Spurs whose name escapes me)
They may well want to sign one of your players, if you ever produce one good enough but lets be real-That's hardly likely is it?
Good points re Everton and Liverpool.I would say Sunderland and Villa are similar sized clubs. Neither are a threat in today's football and it's possible neither will be a significant force in our lifetimes.
I went on the Liverpool and Everton forums in December as Leicester were playing both and there was one difference that struck me between the two sets of fans.
Liverpool fans wished Leicester well and hoped they would win the league or get CL providing it wasn't at their expense, they didn't see Leicester as a long term threat to them because they're a big club.
Everton were bitter and resentful of Leicester's season because they're not a big club and feared being overtaken by Leicester.
In my experience teams that are self proclaimed "big clubs" and are obsessed about the size of a club are not big clubs. Proper big clubs never have this conversation.

You talk utter bollocks. Spurs got CL twice with a team of Bale, Modric, Van Der Vaart, Defoe, Keane, Bent etc etc. Now they rely on a lad from the academy to keep them in the hunt for a Europa League place, really done them alot of good long term didn't it.
The top 4 is the top 4 until another Sheikh or Oligarch buys a club as a play toy. I couldn't give a fuck if we finish 6th or 9th makes little difference unless your winning trophies.
I've seen Newcastle, Villa, Swansea and Southampton fans all say the same thing when they have a little good season in form and they all fall flat on there arses in the end. For all Leicesters true fans I wish them the best but for cockwombles as yourself enjoy midtable/relegation battles with your clappers and the dream of one day being anywhere near as successful as clubs like Everton and Sunderland.
Like I said they have won nowt for years, most clubs have a good history somewhere along the line, that means nothing in the present day, what do people class as a big club? That's bollocks like, they've won a few trophies since we last won anything.
Therein lies the problem with you deluded fuckers
Of course we're a bigger club than you are.
You've never done anything in this league, you yo-yo up & down and when you get a decent striker, we waltz in and take him off your hands
A lot of people on here need to wake up & smell the coffee
You said they have won nowt for years, just like us, suggesting they have won nowt for 43 years. They have actually won the league, European cup, European super cup and 4 league cups in the last 43 years - I don't like to say it but their record is much superior to ours & there's no comparison since 73.Like I said they have won nowt for years, most clubs have a good history somewhere along the line, that means nothing in the present day, what do people class as a big club?

Its still years since they won anything, they are a smallclub like us in terms of they have won nothing in recent history.
