villa bigger club than Sunderland

I would say Sunderland and Villa are similar sized clubs. Neither are a threat in today's football and it's possible neither will be a significant force in our lifetimes.

I went on the Liverpool and Everton forums in December as Leicester were playing both and there was one difference that struck me between the two sets of fans.

Liverpool fans wished Leicester well and hoped they would win the league or get CL providing it wasn't at their expense, they didn't see Leicester as a long term threat to them because they're a big club.

Everton were bitter and resentful of Leicester's season because they're not a big club and feared being overtaken by Leicester.

In my experience teams that are self proclaimed "big clubs" and are obsessed about the size of a club are not big clubs. Proper big clubs never have this conversation.

The catchment area and being in the premier since it started etc villa should sell out every f***ing week, we have nowhere near the catchment area they do have been worse way worse than they have been yet pull in on average a fair few more fans than they do. Theyve done fuck all in reality in the modern era bar stay up and finally it looks like they will get a wake up call to what real fans have gone through over the years.

Therein lies the problem with you deluded fuckers

Of course we're a bigger club than you are.

You've never done anything in this league, you yo-yo up & down and when you get a decent striker, we waltz in and take him off your hands

A lot of people on here need to wake up & smell the coffee
Your not a bigger club though, you have won fuck all for years, just like us

Delph and benteke ring a BELLEND

This my clubs bigger than your club is utter shite. Villa have a huge history just like SAFC. Both have had very lean times SAFC from the fifties onwards with Villa having a European (champs league) cup under their belt in the 80's. top flight wins for Villa 7, SAFC 6. I also remember Villa being in the Third tier of English football for a long period. My opinion both Villa and SAFC are proper Football clubs not like some of the mickey mouse outfits in English Football. Having said that I think we are both being run by very poor owners at this time.

Aye I was shaking in my boots watching my team thump Wolfsburg 4-1 in Europe whilst you watched your lot bottom of the league. I've seen my team win league titles shame you'll never see it pal.

I get your a WUM but some advice atleast make your wind ups make sense. If Leicester winning the league wasn't at Liverpool's expense but at Everton's then that would mean Everton have more of a chance of winning the league to be more bothered. **face palms**

Think it's just because you're a knob mate myself. I want Leicster to win the league but I want you to fuck off.

I always assumed the "86" in your username was the year you were born, how old are you?

After looking at both the forums I realised that the Everton fans felt inferior to Liverpool but tried to make out they were deluded as every other post mentioned "Koppites" but on the Liverpool forum I didn't witness any delusions. I came away thinking that you had an inferiority complex because you're overshadowed by your bigger and more illustrious neighbours. Not being a WUM and never had that opinion before I went on both forums but that was my observation.

Big clubs equal manyoo chelsea arsenal city spurs liverpool. The rest are nowhere. Maybe west ham with sold out olympic stadium and revenues this could bring have a chance of joining them. Cash is king in todays premier league.

It's always a great idea to judge a set of fans from what you read on forums. Foolproof, one might say.

Fully agree, too many teams point at history 30+ years a go to justify that they're still a big club.

If you haven't been in the mix for regular trophies for decades then I'm afraid you're no longer a big club.

Big clubs look into the future for what they're going to win, wannabees look into the past on what they did decades a go to justify their self proclaimed big club status.

If you look at modern history then Villa has the edge but in reality both about equal I would say and largely irrelevant.

Chelsea are only a "big club" because of the money weren't particularly before that, the rest were.

This century? neither has achieved much. Bursts of time around the top end, but not much else.

This decade? not much in it, we've finished above them lately and they don't have our recent cup pedigree- if we avoid going down with them then that opens a bit of a gulf of course.

Overall? Both clubs bask in very good history, more trophies for Villa, plus a European of course, and they even shade it in the league by 1, so we'd have to give them that.

But as we all know the skyboys don't care about anything but recent seasons, just look at a poster on here suggesting that Defoe is our best striker "ever" and defended it on the basis he is the best HE has seen.

Hold on tight @Cridge you could be joining the pedigree of Sheff Weds, Notts Forest, Leeds and other dusty 'greats' very soon.

Year my lad was born pal but good try. Evertonians know Liverpool are the bigger club I don't get your point, doesn't mean we don't hate them any more or less.

Regardless Leicester can be in business for the next 100 years and won't win the 20 trophies shy of us never mind Liverpool's. Must be depressing. No win in 3 games bubble burst? Chance of league title gone in smoke? Soon to be in Europa League at best with bare squad and back in midtable next season? diddums kid x

On the 3rd April 2015 Leicester were 7pts adrift from safety and popular opinion was we were as good as relegated.

Nine months to the day later and we're being mocked because we won't win the league because we're second and two points adrift.

f***ing love it. ;)

There is probably something in that - but to think you are anywhere even remotely close to overtaking Everton is, well, f***ing laughable. Another interpretation is that Liverpool fans, like Newcastle's, are deluded enough about their own statusto not see Leicester as any danger to them, long or short term- Everton fans can actually read a league table and see what everyone else sees, Leicester doing superbly so far this year.

I think its the revenue generation as well. Some may scoff at that but the clubs i mentioned cash wise are significantly bigger than rest. Spurs are building a new stadium which will no doubt significantly increase revenue. Liverpool are adding another 10000 corporate seats in near future. City have increased ground capacity. I have nentioned west ham. The rest of us are getting smaller and smaller in their rear view mirrors.
