100% true except that it isn't.
If it shares a boundary how can it be more? They're f*cking joined together.

Oh and thinking about it North Shields is the other side of Tynemouth to Whitley Bay and Cullercoats is in between those f*ckers! How old is your sat nav? Those places have been there since the f*cking Roman's!!:)

Oakleigh School is north of Cleadon Village and they have their address as Oakleigh Gardens, Cleadon, Sunderland, Tyne And Wear, SR6 7PT.

If Cleadon, which is further south, is in South Shields how come they're not?

Oakleigh Gardens is probably the closet part of the village to Cleadon Hill, and it still isn't closer than the majority of Water Tower Houses and most Upper Cleadon Houses.
I would say the majority of Cleadon Village houses spread over to the west, not the south. The Upper Cleadon houses and Cleadon park houses are where they are, the village gets further away from the AOL as it goes west.

Anyway, about this preposterous claim of yours that Whitley Bay is closer to North Shields?:)

Oakleigh Gardens is a mile north of the AOL and is Sunderland not South Shields.

Therefore your claim that the AOL is in South Shields is wrong.

Cleadon Village is not part of Sunderland. Oakleigh Gardens is not part of Sunderland. It doesn't pay its rates to Sunderland. Its bins aren't collected by Sunderland. Its politicians aren't based in Sunderland. It doesn't get Planning Permission from Sunderland. Its services aren't provided by Sunderland. It is f*ck all to do with Sunderland and Sunderland is f*ck all to do with it.
All of those things are carried out from South Shields Town Hall.

The AOL got its planning permission from South Shields Town Hall. They can't change a f*cking thing without permission from South Shields Town Hall. That goes for everyone in Cleadon Village including Oakleigh Gardens. They can't go for a f*cking piss without ringing up South Shields Town Hall! They can't even block pave their f*cking drives without permission from South Shields Town Hall!
South Shields Town Hall runs their f*cking lives, no matter what they claim.

Now, about your preposterous claim that Whitley Bay is closer to North Shields!!:)

so much easier when the Subderland Training Ground was in Washington, part of the borough of Sunderland.

Less confusing than Cleadon being in South Shields a,though only one person believes it.

I think you said it was in South Shields, so I will say no. Otherwise that would mean Sunderland was in South Shields too.
Sunderland starts at the little stream just north of where the old abattoir used to be beside Seaburn Dene. Conveniently, when heading south, there's a sign there saying "Sunderland" so people know they've arrived.
You will note the sign for South Tyneside when heading in the opposite direction, note very carefully not Cleadon which is signposted separately later. This area of land does not come under Cleadon Village but does come under South Tyneside and is controlled at South Shields Town Hall.
There are occasional anomalies with land boundaries, and one borough's area of control is not always in one single mass.

So when the old training ground on Moor Lane was on the go was it in Whitburn, Cleadon or Sunderland?

technically apart from a bit of water south shields and north shields are connected

thank god for the river tyne

keeping those mag bastards separated

south shields is now officially 50% shields and 50% sunderland with about 80% having sandy/mackem sympathies

Maritime borders?

You're confusing South Shields, the town, with council refuse area collections etc.

The AOL is almost 5 miles to South Shields town centre.

Whitley Bay is 3 miles away from North Shields, centre to centre.

A business 1 mile north of the AOL has a Sunderland address so you're wrong in claiming the AOL is in South Shields.

I'm not confusing anything. I look at a great big f*cking sign saying "SOUTH TYNESIDE" and another saying "SOUTH SHIELDS" which is very close to the AOL regardless of your stance on the village.
The boundary for Cleadon Village is the village itself, and its clearly f*cking marked and signposted. Not all parts of a borough or area are enclosed by one single boundary. Cleadon Village stops before the AOL land. That strip is controlled by South Shields Town Hall.

Oh, and for your information Oakleigh Gardens isn't really a business, it's a school which comes under the South Shields jurisdiction. I can't answer for what google have as their address but everyone in that area would normally put Cleadon, Tyne and Wear and the postcode. You're probably aware, as others have pointed out previously though, that postcodes have nothing to do with the borough, its simply the easiest route for mail collections which was decided years ago. It could well be that the village mail is done by a different sorting office now anyway but its carried out internally.

The AOL isn't in Sunderland. Cleadon Village isn't in Sunderland.

Thanks for your advice though. I'll be driving through that way today, as i often do, so i'll make sure ive got a full tank of petrol and plenty of warm clothes when i'm crossing the land from the village to the AOL. Ive heard its quite inhospitable and lonely this time of year.
