Tim krul I heard he is masive lads fan I am not claiming to be ITK but apparently he was laughing his tits off at half time during the Derby take it or leave its upto you tin hat firmly on

Well if the story is true that Newcastle are in talks that should signal to us to go in with a bid. Would be mad to let this lad goto your rivals with us needing quality as well. The reports could be shite like but you never know.

So then, PSV are prepared to let a top quality player leave.

The player himself is ready to leave and is prepared to consider not living in that London and moving to the North East

Sunderland are managed by one of his most respected compatriots, but the club are going to permit their greatest rivals to get the player without a challenge.

One can only suppose that 'swooping' for the underwhelming, bang-average Matthews has caused Congerton to lose his focus.

Or perhaps SAFC are, once again, going to try to do it 'on the cheap'

As some posters would have it - "We move on !" The concern has to be what we move on to. Real quality or bargain basement, cheap as chips mediocrity ?

Does seem daft that we're giving up on him so easily, disappointing isn't it?
Hopefully he's a flop and we get someone better, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The words typical and Sunderland spring to mind .

We're just crap at transfers aren't we? Everyone we sign turns to shit

We might not have £15m to spend on one player?

We might not have £15m to spend on one player?

Thought Advocaat was promised money when he came back, and has said we need quality in the first team rather than quantity in reserves as per usual.
This is the signing we should be aiming for man, don't spend £15 on two decent players, spend it on one who will transform our team. A creative CM who is comfortable on the ball, it's what we've been missing for years

Plus we should be lookin to sell Bridcutt, Fletcher and buckley Etc
$$$

Then the question to ask is - Why don't we have £15m to spend on one player ? We are an established Premier League club, with similar huge TV revenues as other clubs. Whilst I accept that recent previous transfer windows have seen us fritter away and waste money, the net spend over the past six transfer windows has been about £37m - £40m.

Spot on with the highlighted bit. Indeed, I would suggest that we need the £15m player and the two £7.5m players and probably a couple more £7.5m - £10m players

I agree you are not widely liked, and im damn sure you've not met with more approval. Fishpaste was a well respected member with the majority of this board until 'ballgate'. His posts have usually been well informed and interesting, something you struggle with. Less is more mate. The above is just mean and its a lame attempt to curry favour with a the popular anti fishpaste movement because youve made a twat of yourself too often.

Personally I'd much rather we had SAFC fans writing about us in the national and locals, being of a rational mind I realise that sometimes Im not going to agree with them. Thats no reason to burn them at the stake. It can only raise our profile.

Fishpaste is just starting out, hes a lad thats made a fledgling career for himself from writing in fanzines, twitter and being involved in discussions on this board. For the life of me I cant understand the SMB's keeness to always try and bring low one of their own, be it writers or ex players. Im aware of nothing hes written thats deserves excommunication.

I understand this idea that he can come across as arrogant when defending himself on here, when its you versus the world anyone can become defensive. Maybe being an journo and an active SMB member doesnt mix. Im not sure I would bother, every time he writes owt its like open season on here.
Very nicely put!

I think a £15m player, a £8m (lens) and £5m Lombaerts for the first team, and then two loanees, and we'll have a solid team.

Shouldn't be too much to ask for considering we barely avoided relegation for the second time in two seasons

There are other just as good players we can target I mean just a couple of the alternatives are Jordy Clasie (the player id most like to see us sign), Moussa Dembele (Spurs), Dick will have his preference sorted and who knows this Wijnaldum might just be waiting till his mates Lens and Van Dijk sign up could be a triple Dutch treat on the way! Dreams are free anyway.

if the mags sign him fair enough... but i'm still convinced that nufc are about to break fat mikes golden rules
buy em cheap
sell em high (as possible) philosophy
i wouldnt surpirse me at all if this comes to nowt and is a bit of gamesmanship / muddy the water by nufc/local media, why coz we have been proactive they havent
they need some positive pr as most mags i know are very apathetic

Every word of this is supposition, you don't actually know any more than anyone else who isn't in direct contact with the player or the clubs.

But you still believe every word of it just so you can have a go at the club.

Actually, I think that you will find that I am, traditionally a very positive, pro-club (almost Happy Clapper) type of poster.

However, I was genuinely hopeful that Advocaat's return, predicated on his assessment of 5-6 top quality players being required, would have seen a step change in the standard of in-coming players.

Whereas, in fact, I have seen no evidence of anything other than more of the same old same old, of operating at the bargain basement end of the market, while players who could really effect major change in the clubs results and performances go to our competitors, albeit for fees that reflect the higher standards of their abilities. I think that this parsimony will eventually prove to be a false economy

Its the beginning of July, the time to start twisting about quality of players in is at the end of the window. As for evidence what do you want? Newspaper stories linking us with good players?
