How come Ballance isn't playing in this match? Can see why Root was rested but Ballance played as bad as anyone I'd seen for England in a long time. Against New Zealand it was like a club match where someone was missing so they put the player the 2nd team didn't want at 3 to give him a game.

why would he? that was ODI stuff, and he definitely needs a rest, there are 17 test matches this year man
