That's the gamble he's taking though, fair play to him for backing his own talent. Plus it keeps him in the papers, which is probably the most important thing.

I hope he fails worse than anyone has ever failed before.
And we know failures when we see them.

Cook should walk if they let this melon back into the team.
sounds like a win win to me

good luck with your hope but you are likely to be disappointed

Not if your (arguably) "best player" is a whiny splitarse who would pretty much destroy whatever morale is left.
why does he have to 'get on ' with anyone?

Read on SKY today that he's been released from the IPL but has to go to India if his team reach the knockout stage.
Only for 5 days though.
Hooefully he scores a boatload of runs if only to watch downton,Whittaker and moores wriggle and squirm when start getting questions asked about him!
Find it hard to believe he hasn't had some assurances regarding a recall if he's kissed goodbye to 250k mind.

This is what he should have done this 12 months ago. Got back with the county cricket muppets banged out a load of runs, would have been going to the West Indies now.

To be fair without Graves coming onboard at the ECB Pietersen could have scored as many runs as he liked last season and he still wouldn't have been selected.

I'm still not sure he'll play with all or some of Downton, Whitaker, Moores and Cook in situ. However, from what I've seen over the past year or so all 4 are very dispensable.

Committed himself to Surrey for season thus turning his back on earning a lot more money playing a full IPL and CPL.
As a side note our ODI captain is playing a FULL IPL and will miss an England ODI game as well as start of county season because of this.
One of these is an international superstar and England's leading run scorer across all formats whilst the other is a run of mill international cricketer.
One will be welcomed back into the England fold with open arms whilst the other seems he will have to pull up every tree in St Johns Wood just to merit a discussion.
Easy quiz this one in which the right answer is unfortunately the wrong answer for English cricket.

Regarding your last point of course you right one less talented player well be welcoming back with open arms, however not sure other bloke is a international superstar going a bit far that.

However if he is a international superstar as you suggest,he must be the biggest wanker of all time, not to be considered for our shower of shit that is the England cricket team at the moment.

His talent is beyond question, but think only one person to blame for not been considered and that is KP himself.

Although to be fair if his does knuckle down and score loads of championship runs then fair play to him.

I'd suggest it's more an English problem than a KP one to be honest.
He plays all over the world in various franchises and seems to get on absolutely fine with other big players from other nationalities. Only have to look at a class act like Rahul Dravid taking time out to encourage him when he was struggling.
As I've said before England really seem to struggle with big personalities and KP another in a long line who have ended up falling foul of the establishment.
Lot of jealousy and resentment surrounds KP due to his earning potential and fact he's pretty much only regular England player who the IPL bother with. Perhaps if Broad, swann Etc had been picked up when put themselves up for auction things would have been different.
To say KP is to blame for not being selected I find baffling. He top scored for us in his last series (despite having a knackered knee) and was then cut adrift as he was "disengaged" from the group!
A nice convenient scapegoat for the ECB to hide behind after a disaster down under.

I suppose when Jason Gallian threw KP gear over the balcony while he was at Notts was to do with jealousy, possibly not mind seen as he was not a international superstar then.

Not a international star now either as IPL contract considerably less than last year.

He seems to have fallen out with a few people mind.

Guess will never know who is right in the sense of is he a really a total tosser or are other players jealous on him.

However without labouring the point the very fact a poor team like England who desperately could do with someone of his talent in the team, still decide not to pick him, tells its own story to me.

That's what puzzles me too, the selectors have clearly said they aren't interested in picking him whatever he does. Too cynical of me to think this is the set up for KP the book part 2? "I sacrificed everything to play for England and they broke their promises, woe is me"

(I still think he should be playing for England)

The whole KP thing is a hark back to the amateurs and professional days. I thought we left that behind when Illingworth was captain, but just look at our selectors and there background.

will have to score 600-800 runs by end of may, england to struggle against west indies, trott, cook, ballance, bell to fail, downtown to be sacked, whittaker to be sacked and even then moores and cook would ave to agree to kp coming back. massive longshot but hope he does it, just to see certain peoples faces and to watch them backpeddle over all their comments. would be entertaining at least
