No real test pedigree though has he? I wouldn't put him ahead of any of the players selected for the middle order.Has been left out of the Windies touring squad.Very, very harsh indeed.
Everyone starts somewhere.Botham had no Test pedigree at one time!No real test pedigree though has he? I wouldn't put him ahead of any of the players selected for the middle order.
Yes ok, but who in the side could he get ahead of - assuming no.6 will be an allrounder? They have invested in Root but refuse to do likewise with young Taylor.

Tendulkar, Lara and Gavaskar are all short blokes who flopped in test cricketYes ok, but who in the side could he get ahead of - assuming no.6 will be an allrounder?
I like the kid, just not convinced about his technique in test cricket especially given his size
Are you saying Taylor is as good as them?Tendulkar, Lara and Gavaskar are all short blokes who flopped in test cricket
I agree with you
He's not saying that, and that is clear to everyone. However, to write him off due to his size is something to clichèd British it's unreal. Usually the sort of bollocks spouted by someone who would rather have Yaya Toure than Leo Messi cos Messi is "too small".Are you saying Taylor is as good as them?
Bradman anarlAre you saying Taylor is as good as them?
David Warners not bad, either.Bradman anarl
Or chanderpaul, jayawardene, bell, ponting, clarke...... theres hundredsDavid Warners not bad, either.
Tommo broke his foot, if he'd have been 6 foot tall he'd still have a broken foot.Alvin Kaillicharran once hit 35 off 10 balls against Lillee in the 70s. He was shorter than Taylor!
Agree with the OP
Amazingly
I think James Taylor is the real deal.
Is it ridiculous to think England, as shit as we are, have an embarrasment of riches in the middle order....? (I say with a hint of irony).
Trott has been a loss but I cant see why they are bringing him back now. Long term I think Root should be our No3. My jury is still out on Gary Balance... I know ODIs are different but he looked like he was batting with a cocktail stick in them.
Long term could we go;
Cook
Lyth
Root
Bell
Taylor
Stokes
Buttler
+ 4 shite bowlers?

I think he deserves a place in the squad.really? on what basis is he being taken?
better players in the team already
Why is Taylor ahead of any of them? Why move Root from 5 where he has scored a shed load of runs?
The stick Ballance gets is laughable, he is the ICC young test player of the year, he had a fantastic summer, has that been forgotten?
Can't see why Trott has been brought back? Seriously?
Why are people obsessed with thinking long term, 33 is so young for a test player, he should have years left, and the most important thing is winning test series right now
That lineup you have there is nowhere near good enough for the Ashes this summer like.
crazy post.
I agree Taylor definitely has a future with England, but all the players in the squad are better players IMO.
I think he deserves a place in the squad.
Honestly I would have left Trott, quality bat clearly but clearly he has problems and should be left to live his life. imho
I';m not saying he is "too small" but his height is an issue and I'm not convinced he has the technique to cope at test level given his height. Yes, the likes of Tendulkar (5'5") and Lara (5'8") had outstanding careers but there will be 1000 other small cricketers who didn't. Both Lara and Sachin had amazing techniques and whilst Taylor (5'3") looks promising you cannot just say he will succeed because other small cricketers have too....He's not saying that, and that is clear to everyone.
