England vs Afghanistan.

Aleem Dar

Striker
No Ali or Woakes.

Hales to open with Ballance back?
Jordan in for Woakes?
Then Bopara?
My guess would be:

Bell
Hales
Ballance
Root
Taylor
Buttler
Bopara
Jordan
Broad
Finn
Anderson

"English" conditions here in sydney town. cool, breezy, overcast with a chance of a shower or two... the coldest day for a long while.

Soft shite!

Rain stopped play, the Afgans 111/7 after 36.2 overs.

Tredwell and Bopara in for Ali and Woakes. Hales opening with Taylor back at 3.

Too little to late against the 3rd worst team In the tournament.

Think I prefer the Afghan bowlers to ours, better pace for a start.

Hales nice and aggressive but been dropped at backward point twice like.

We won!

Bell gets another 50, ended the tournament with an average of over 50 due to his not out.

However, a strike rate of just over 77 which means he's playing for Ian Bell's stats rather than the greater good of the team IMO.

I know I Am a two faced bastard, but, for me, everything is great again.

Criticise him and what him dropped fair enough, but he isn't playing for stats, he was just trying to set up the innings, played a lot better than most of the other feckers.

Ian Bell is good enough to play in Englands' ODI team moving forward - in my opinion.

Although I would agree, not opening.

He is, but probably time to move on, been made too much of a scapegoat for me though

The biggest issue in the England side is the bowling and the lack of runs in the middle overs, the ability to consistently pick up 1s and 2s.

The batting in the first 10 overs has been fine actually, not sure why people pick on this part.

Sport is all about momentum and Bell doesn't provide it. He has hit no sixes making over 250 runs but has the best part of 30 fours.

He hasn't used his feet to the spinners the whole tournament and I can't remember any fours that have fell just short of six. In the modern game it's not good enough. Tail end bowlers are hitting sixes but not Bell.

He needs to be told to aim to score at a run a ball, 4.5 runs an over just won't cut it. It wasn't important today but he again dominated the strike over the hitter. He should be letting the big hitter have as much of the strike as possible.
