I will once again be doing a review of the Test groundsGot my Edgbaston day 1 confirmed but not yer received.
Good man!I will once again be doing a review of the Test grounds
He may have been bowling well but he was bowling too short too often, the Test team wasn't convincing at all over last summer. Remember they played Sri Lanka and lost and then India who don't do that stuff too well and that's having lost the one day series against SL and then against India - there's nothing from last summer that gives any hope imho.We certainly have a chance I agree, Broad was excellent this summer in England, and n the Ashes in Australia, have people forgotton this? ODI stuff aside he is a good test bowler still
We beat an Indian side that doesn't seem to give a toss about test cricket, in English swinging conditions. Even then they won their first test match at Lords in 28 years.I think there has been a massive over reaction to the state of English cricket, the likes of Vaughan can't wait to stick their boot in
OK, I accept the ODI side is shite, but its inexperienced, and we have been shite at ODI since I have been a live, we have failed to get out of the group stages 3 times, nothings changed
In the test arena I think we are looking OK, the main worry is the lack of back up for Anderson and Broad, but I believe Anderson can play for years, as his run up is quite economical.
People forget that the great team from a few years ago has split up, we have lost some world class players one way or another, it was always going to take a bit of time, but I think test cricket is healthy in England
Don't think you can relate the 2, and anyone slagging off England (rightfully so) needs to point out they are talking about the ODI side, not the test side.

Is the last year and a half the worst cricket that England have player ever? If not it must come close.

This following the ashes debacle and sri lanka winning their first test series ever in England with a very inexperienced bowling attack.
They've still got plenty to do to prove they're a good side in the test arena.

there is
whats changed? the ODI team is as shite as ever
the test team isn't
read my post and actually explain yourself, rather than just posting a icon
At the end of the day, most England fans care more about test cricket than ODI cricket, so I am not pretending I care that we were shite this WC
Its all about the series in the Windies for me
No but were talking about a nation that has never been good in this country. They had won 5 test matches in England before the current series. Its funny how people count series England lose, but just discount a convincing win over India, where they totally thrashed them in 3 tests, people just pass them off and say India don't travel well
Ah guess that doesn't count then
It really f***ing annoys me when people say that
Exactly, that is test cricket, if we went to India it would be f***ing spinning wouldn't it, does that mean it doesn't count if India win?
If we go to Australia it will be quick with plenty of bounce
of course they have plenty to prove, but you can't just lump it in with the ODI stuff, and you can't just discount their hammering of India like, ridiculous thing to do, it really is
You obviously didn't watch England much in the 90s like
It's not a dead loss IMO. Has Johnson ever played well in this country?
Starc is looking very good but they stilI haven't got a half decent spinner. I also don't think their batsmen will thrive in English conditions.
I think it could be tight![]()
Well, that might be OK if they didn't have such depth in their seam bowling attack.
They will probably have Harris and Siddle fit and raring to go. Starc is now looking like a proper quick bowler with the potential bend it in English conditions. Cummins and Hazelwood are also emerging into promising young bowlers with the ability to take advantage of English conditions.
The key to beating Australia is spin these days, sadly we have so few options in that department.
You say that like there's world class spiners everywhere. Lyon is about as good as it gets at the minute and he's certainly better than Ali currently. It's not a dead loss IMO. Has Johnson ever played well in this country?

Herath and Ajmal is about all there is. The latter may not be the same after a remodelled action.
In regards you're other point you're forgetting about Harris and Siddle. They've also got hazlewood, cummins who look like handy bowlers.
Don't get me wrong...I hope you are spot on!Lyon is OK, no better. Siddle had KP's number but he won't be a major threat.
If Starc, Johnson and Harris hit the ground running we're in trouble. But Harris is never fit, Johnson has never played well here and Starc is unused to our conditions.
We need Anderson and Broad to have excellent summers and the back up to be decent too but I thing we have a chance![]()
No, I read the rest of your post and it was cobblers as well.
If you think being thrashed by Australia, losing at home to Sri Lanka, then losing a test to a disinterested Indian team that hasn't won away in years is 'OK' then you have very low standards indeed
Most England fans prefer test cricket. Nonetheless we still care about the World Cup, even if you don't, and the performance was embarrassing. Not a bit disappointing, but deeply, f***ing embarrassing. We didn't just lose to Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand, we were hammered.
You may not be old enough to remember us being any good, but I can remember us getting to three World Cup finals and two Champions Trophy Finals. In fact the last of the latter was only 2 or 3 years ago, you must be a toddler with a highly developed ability of posting cobblers on the internet.Add to that, for someone who doesn't care too much about 50 over cricket, you were wanking yourself daft like the rest of us, over the Royal London cup win last September.
As for the supposed inexperience of the side, Australia and India have young teams and are favourites for the tournament. The less said about Bangladesh the better. The difference is they aren't locked in their own little timewarp, and play short cricket to the highest level at home. They are also given the freedom to play cricket, not make statistics.
To be honest, I hope we got twonked off Afghanistan, just to shut up the remaining idiots who don't think there isn't a problem here.
You are the biggest raspberry blower on here. You told @Sweeper to 'fuck off you utter.****' just for mentioning Pietersen on the Bangladesh thread.

Ridiculous isn't it. All for suggesting that we might think about picking our best player.
