Oz v Eng first ODI...

Finn has been hammered all over, a shadow of the player he once was. Loss of pace have converted balls he would get away with at 90mph into complete pies.

I'd of taken Plunkett personally, he can take wickets and would offer something different. Rashid? He spins it the other way, slim pickings I know, but you need variety
Rashid been getting spanked at 6+ an over for the Lions. Even against the invitational side he went for a lot of runs

I'd have mixed it up a bit and Plunkett is a decent shout (not sure what his fitness is like). Tredwell does nothing for me, likewise Finn. The selectors have their favs and that's entirely up to them but it's not a team I'd pay money to watch at the moment.

ODI avg of 27.81 in 44 ODI's is fairly impressive mind

Anybody surprised? We are going backwards in terms of approach and players. Too many bits and pieces cricketers favoured over match-winning mavericks.

Unfortunately this. At least we can be safe in the knowledge that the present incumbents are nice guys and good for the dressing room. It's something I suppose.

One of the best ODI batsmen in the world (and certainly England's best) currently in Australia abut not selected. England only have themselves to blame.

Reminds me of when I first started watching England in the mid-90s as a bairn. Lots of decent chaps that don't rock the boat and do a bit of this and a bit of that whilst not being great at either. I've nothing against all-rounders but they have to excel in one area or be very good in both.

Not even a first choice Aussie bowling attack either.

May as well just pack our bags and come home now, like shite are we doing anything in this World Cup.
Johnson is the only regular missing like. Hazlewood only played 6 ODI's.

They seem to mix it up between cummins,hazlewood,couter-nile and starc.

Edit:couter-nile not even selected anyway for world cup.

So it's arugably only johnson missing as the other 3 seem to be mixed up and played as the other opener.

Half the player he was IMHO. Why Stokes isn't here i'll never know, surely there are other bowlers in county cricket that can bowl near 90mph ?

On a seperate topic, does anyone else want to puch the TV when Mark Nicholas commentates ?? what an Aussie cock sucking twat he is.

Decent. He's just one of those bowlers that doesn't really excite me. Frightening that we don't have much competition since the bottler ran away

To be fair to Swann, I think it was a genuine injury the reason why he quit or else he'd have chased after IPL money, he was offered a contract by 4 teams...

This is the worrying thing. Is exactly like that. I keep saying that I think the argument about KP is a small side issue...the real problem is that we are back to the 90's.

Cos he had a shocking series against Sri Lanka. In the mind set of the England hierachy, he had his chance and blew it. One might question why auditions for Australia were held on subcontinent pitches....

I'd still of played Tredwell today.

I have no idea if Woakes and Jordan are the best, but I honestly don't think they are good enough at this level.

It is ridiculous, in a SQUAD he has to be there.

Agree about Jordan, not really impressed me at all. The issue we have currently is that I just don't see us bowling out the big teams at all. We have no X-Factor bowler like Steyn, Johnson etc.... they just all seem the same. They all bowl between 82-87 mph and thats it.

Ridiculous they can't have DRS in this match cos the Indians are pathetic.

They won the bloody world cup thanks to a DRS decision in the semi against Tendulkar. They'll use it in a months time but not in this series.

BCCI can fuck themselves to be frank. ICC should just make them use it.

Spot on. David Capel, Phil Defreitas, Derek Pringle, Dermot Reeve, Ben Hollioake (RIP), Adam Hollioake etc, the list is endless. Jack of all trades master of none. Bopara and Woakes definitely belong in that camp. Dominic Cork had class but was too mercurial. Flintoff is the only real international class all-rounder we have produced since Botham.

Broad has decided he's had enough and wants this over quick. Bowling dolly's to the Aussies and getting tonked for 18 in the over !

Totally agree.

It's an ICC tournament so they should all have to play by the the rules laid down by the ICC. But it appears the ICC are shit scared of the BCCI and buckle to them at very stage.

Bloody hell. Game over inside 40 overs. Pathetic bowling attack !
