He isnt what we need , blowing the budget on an injury prone midget is madness
He's been playing professional football since 1999 and including international appearances he's averaged 35 games a season.
That's your first pile of shite, blatant lie.
You don't know what our budget is to suggest in any way shape or form that it is blown.
Second lie.
Let's hope you don't post a full paragraph, it will take an age to sort through your inability to be honest

No better than Fletcher stats wise? He's scored 226 goals Fletcher has 89!

Fletcher is 5 years younger though and you're including European games.

Defoe scores a league goal every 0.35 games and Fletcher's is 0.28

Defoe's PL tally for the last 4 seasons is....1, 11, 11 and 4 from 95 apps

Fletcher's is 3, 11, 12 and 10 from 94 apps

Shame the club can't use the so called 80k p/w on an up and coming player.
You would not use 80k on an up and coming player no chance a proven one yes. Will defoe work out here idk but it has to be worth a go if ellis and co are willing to stump up them wages and the rest

In terms of the deal, Jozy is paid very well by Safc and Defoe's wages are not massive in comparison. One out and one in. Total outlay will not be as big as first perceived.
Primary school maths will be too much for the cavemen

Haven't read the whole thread but what happened to the bile and hatred that used to be on here for Defoe after he *broke* Gordon's arm?

Money talks and is showing it does through apparent 80k a week, if we offered him that or similar, presumably more than he's on currently, while writing off any potential remaining debt Villa have with us, if they do, and at the same time making a relegation contender around us worse, seems to make sense to me at least offering or approaching

Benteke would improve the side but he wouldn't get us 8-10 goals this season and we might need that to stay up. In my opinion of course.

He's better than Altidore by a country mile. So we are a better team today than we were last week. That is at least progress.

Thanks for that

Far prefer us being pro active in jan (whu with hartson n kitson anyone) than sit on our hands.

The present lot may well have not had enough points in them imo.

Have we forgiven him for snapping Craig Gordons arm yet then?

Typical anti Sunderland media, if it was anyone else wages wouldn't be an issue.... But hey its us so negative spin

Exactly this...Jozy must be on circa £35k-£40k, Defoe is more than twice the player Jozy is, this is fukin great deal for SAFC. Media spitting their dummies out 'cos they didn't call it...listened to TS y'day and sick of them saying 10 clubs after Defoe and we weren't mentioned once.

Got no problem with bringing Defoe in if it helps the balance of the team and we pose more goal threat......I was just pointing out that he's not as prolific in the PL as people on here seem to think and not really a step up from Fletcher. He may offer a different skill set though.....Got to be better than Altidore though.
