Looking to get a new run-around, finding lots of decent reviews for these. Anyone on here got one that can offer any advice please?

Otherwise, any tips for a cheap runner for under £4000?

My girlfriend was looking into getting one recently and the reviews are good, that's as much as I can help on that. I think her Mam or Dad might have one (I'm not really sure which of their cars belongs to who) so will ask later on.

How much is a VW Up!?

The wife got a C1, cracking little motor, £20 a year tax, peanuts to insure and gets around 60mpg. 106 and Aygo are same cars.

I've driven one a number of times and I can't find fault with it really. It gets you from A to B with the minimum of fuss as cheaply as possible (£30 tax) and nippy off the mark and easy to park. Got canny kit too, i.e. electric windows and mirrors, a/c, 5 year warranty. Was bought brand new and had no issues in the near 3 years since.

About 6 years ago, we wanted a small runabout too. Choice came down to an i10 or a Aygo/C1/107

Picked the C1 in the end. But there really wasn't much in it.
Fiat 500 is the prettier, by far, of course.

Prefer the look of Skoda's version, tbh.

& would assume the Skoda would be cheaper?

Between the C1 and the Aygo every time the Toyota. Even those who like their driving as cost friendly as possible would like some style and reliability. And Japanese cars are known for being stylish and with good performance and reliability levels.

Of the others the FIAT 500 is a brilliant car. I learned in one. Far better than the Astra that BSM used to have. In December 2009 I broke my wrist. I didn't get back to driving till about April and by that time my instructor like loads of others had largely changed to the FIAT 500. Very nippy and it packs a punch.

The VW Up. Too small for my liking. But it offers a good alternative to the Aygo.

But my Mazda 2 is a brilliant little car to throw a new name into the ring. One previous owner and bought for about £5,000.

Don't they share many components though? And come with similar 1.0 engines?

Agree that Toyota have proved to be more reliable in many manufacturers tests, but these cars are that basic there's not a great deal that can go wrong. And weigh this up against the savings against the Toyota, the Citroen and Peugeot may come on top. All good cars mind.

Do you know that the Aygo, C1 and 107 are the identical same car, made in the same Toyota factory?
The only difference are a few bit of external detailing, like the lights and the badge.

Love my 500 though I like the danger of it as feels like it wants to flip on its roof at any speed over 60.

So much punch they can't get up hills?

Go for a Yaris or Fabia for that kind of cash.

I'm so glad somebody else pointed this out!

Ive recently got a Kia Ceed. Same company same cars and engines as Hyundai . Mine is the equivalent of the i30 and I found the quality of fittings exceptional. Way better then Vauxhalls and Fords. The warranty is also the best around and fully transferable to the new owner. Me neighbour has an i10 and also very happy with it. Try to get a nearly new one as they changed their whole manufacturing plant and process in 2012/13.
