Canny start made in the BBL I see.

I know he's slagged on here and it's a massive long shot but I'd love to see him stay fit and get an England T20 recall. May be old but still a way more reliable bowler than Jordan, Dernbach etc.

In his first game he was out for 0 (they needed 15 an over or something at the time) and bowled 2 overs for 25. Second game he scored 15 and took 2-41 from 4. Saw him play for Lancs last season too, his bowling has been expensive, he's miles away from an England call up. Lancs and Brisbane don't seem to trust him to bat any higher than 7 although it looks like he can still club it (still often down long off's throat ;))

Not sure I like him as an individual and his professionalism has rightly been called into question in the past but I don't think there's an Englishman that wouldn't love to see a 2005 vintage Flintoff striding out for England. But he'll have to do something special in the next few weeks to get an IPL contract to give him a chance of getting in the England team. Even if he gets an IPL contract it's much harder to get a game as an overseas player over there than in Australia.

He must have got thrashed about in his last over the other night. He was on 2/20 off 2.5 when I went out iirc.

The downside of T20 cricket - it gives old pros who should have retired and stayed retired a big payday.
There's not many of them about like. Apart from flintoff like.

Most of the retired lot are doing well. Hussey,Kallis and Lee being some great examples on show in the BBL.

He's a lovely lad as well, had a few pints with him years ago

We chatted about Mark Davies, I think he thought I was a cricket saddo

Of everything that's ever been written on the SMB, that's the thing I disagree with the most. Complete and utter bellend of the absolute highest order.

Not you, him.

Fair enough. I had a canny few hours chatting to the man.

Maybe my chat is better than yours?

Perhaps. Might be due to the fact he was in the pub. I don't know anyone involved with Lancs who has a single good word to say about him.

Should have been an all-time great, but isn't.

I'm not sure

Bowled quick but didn't do enough with the ball, good stock bowler

With the bat, good eye and big lad but fuck all technique

NB: this is not a post about Ben Stokes

When fit, his stock ball was 90 mph, straight and bouncy. A ball Broad can bowl twice a day if the wind is behind, Flintoff could do it for whole spells. Plus he had the talent to be a destructive bat, before he stopped practicing.

His best mate is James Cordon.
