I was gonna try and be all clever and philosophical and make a post about the ifs and buts , whys and why nots about this..... but I only have a 1970's junior school indoctrination so I wont even try.

In short, the question is... will the police's decision to 'do things different' (no dedicated metros - escorts etc) lead to a derby day disaster?

Same people who moan about the heavy police presence in previous years will be the first to cause bother.

For 99% of people their will be nee bother.

After the 5-1 game through there it was called a 'guided escort' I actually left after the 4th, and walked down to the station on me own, there was a copper every 10 yards on both sides, I was on the train when Bent scored.

Between genuine fans, no.

Between the "fans" who only acknowledge this day as an excuse to get legless and fight, yes.

That video always makes me think of Rourkes Drift.

"GEORDIES! FOUSANDS OF EM!"

All that waving and shouting at each other, 99.9% of them wouldn't have even bothered if the police weren't there cos they aren't there to start trouble and probs wouldn't know what to do if someone got in their face about it.
Since the police are doing it different if there's even a mild scuffle they run the risk of the media making it out to be a mass pitched brawl between thousands of fans.

The YouTube title is very misleading. There's no battle at all, Sunday will be very different though
The youtube title is not what this thread is about - its not about the title - the images speak for themsleves

Correct - ( dont mean to sound like a twat on that)

The police will still be all over, probably more than last time
are you sure? who's paying for them?

I see where you are coming from - the fact that the POLICE are there RAISE tension - lets see what happens

There is always a common denominator in all trouble - POLICE

Fuck knows who pays for it

They will still be all over the place

if we beat them , theres no way on gods sunny earth its not gonna be murder after

The police are making things hard for themselves. All Sunderland fans in one place then escorted to and from Sjp, whats so difficult about that? Now there will be pockets of Sunderland fans all over with mags waiting to have a pop, there will be hell on and much harder to police imo.

How much bother is there on Derby day anyway? Those who want to fight will fight regardless and probably have there meeting place sorted all ready. They are the tits who should be locked in a room together until they've eaten each other.

We did that. Bearing in mind the match was still being played, saw a couple of Mags trying to take the piss & got chased. Some daft bints were hanging out of a flat window abusing us walking past & so body kicked the front door in near the city walls. Then when we got to Central a mag tried to nut me & it kicked off a bit. This was all Mags who weren't at the game, so there was 50,000 less people to cause bother.
