Watching highlights on you tube today and just remembering back in the 90's Australia used to square off against Australia A every so often in the ODI format that produced some great match ups.

Perfect showcase for fringe players to make a name for themsleves.

I appreciate with the calendar these days (England being away 321 days next year) it's not going to happen but I'd love to see it come back even if just at T20 to start with.

My guess would be that certain people are too precious and worried about rivalries starting between lads that might eventually have to play together too. Sod them, that's how winners are made.

I know a lot of teams 1st 'friendly' of the season is 1s v 2s or 2s v 3s. I find usually that is the hardest played game of the season as no-one wants to misfield or drop a catch, get bowled out by your mate and everything is chased hard and the banter something to behold.

Think you have a good idea but you also have stated the reasons it wouldn't happen

Seems a shame to be honest. Think the fans could get right behind it too as it'd be more of a spectacle watching them not want to be outdone by their mates without the pressure of losing to a rival nation.

After the whole KP issue about the "bullying" etching there's not a chance the ECB would consider it at the minute! ;)
