I think the top division of the NEPL should take note.
Seems to be a trend that top local players are leaving the league to play "afternoon" cricket for the same, or more, money.
Just recently, Karl Turner, Stewy Walker and Liam Simpson. Also players like Ian Pattison stating he does not want to play "all day cricket".
Do you know where Turner is going?

I was talking to Nicky Phillips at the South North indoor school a couple of years ago. He was asked to join CLS CC but turned it down due to the fact that he couldnt be bothered with the hassle of playing all day cricket and basically giving up his summer to trek around the cricket grounds of Northern England. He stayed at Swalwell where he was happiest.

Burnmoor will be massive favourites due to the fact they pay most of the team.

Rest seem pretty equal

If Felling have signed Malinga as their overseas, as well as Simpson and Walker then they'll take some beating. If Leonard had stayed they'd have been clear favourites. Still an open league and any from 6 could get promoted.

Are we talking about the Malinga here? That would be superb but wouldn't he at least be touting himself around for a T20 contract if he were available for a summer over here.

Been told the Sura Malinga rumour isn't accurate as they've maxed budget out on Stu and Liam so no overseas. They have brought another couple in though and are trying to entice Lenny to now stay, either way they'll be a lot strong this year.

Be interesting to watch over winter to see if anything more transpires as @Sweeper will know who told me about the Malinga non starter but the same fella laughed off the Stu Walker signing when I told him what I'd heard so maybe isn't that ITK

Sweeper just guesses. No mole in the FCC camp

It wasn't sweeper, just a close compadre of his, who probably also guesses :lol::lol:

Just as well as Houghton had already agreed terms with Lasith

Top signing that Gav mate, if he brings his uncles, wife's, cousins brother, who has a son over with him send him our way, we can pay him in crisps and can sleep in our new tent lol :D

Stop spouting bullshit on the SMB and get back to working two jobs to fund your clubs panic spending.

Wow! I presume LoB is from Felling. What do they have to panic about? They look like they are trying to get promotion which shouldn't be seen as a negative.

I dunno if its just me getting more old fashioned as I get older but cricket seems a lot spikier now than it was even ten years back

or not

I don't know about that but generally speaking, the en masse paying of players in local cricket has always been something that's pissed me off, particularly when a club is potentially putting its long term future at some risk. As it happens, Felling can afford the money they are paying out due to a change in the clubs set up recently and the hard work of a few people, including @LoB. Not all clubs are in the same boat however.
