The ECB

1 - Ticket prices are disgusting as they charge that much to host test matches.
2 - County Cricket scheduling. Approx 50% of county games in April & September, absolutely stupid.
3 - Their PR is a disaster, a view shared by a lot of people
4 - They lack proper cricket people. When I mean proper cricket I don't mean clowns like Downton who nobody has heard of who are out of date and not in touch with the real world. They got rid of a proper English cricketer in Gooch not so long ago which I found sad.
5 - They are obsessed with T20
6 - Only this year have we gone back to 50 over one day cricket at county level.
7 - Where is the incentive for county players to improve themselves to try and get in the summer test squads when we don't play county cricket in the summer? (50% of county games this season in April and September)
8 - tedious things like "resting" Ben Stokes in the last round of county games, what's that all about?
9.Rushworth,Borthwick,Stoneman not involved in development squads.
10. Our backwards approach to ODI cricket.
11. No chances for England players to go back to their county sides when in bad form. But stay in test side e.g cook this summer.

1 - Yep, Test match cricket is expensive. £50-£65 a day I paid this year. Less than I paid to watch SAFC at Stamford Bridge, like. I see tickets start at £40 for the NZ game at Durham next year, less than a BCB ticket at the SoL.
2 - Simple not true, Durham play 7 games and that was a bit of an anomaly. Lancs played 5, for example.
3 - But not shared by all. The leak is a disaster, that's true.
4 - Paul Downton played 30 Tests, if you haven't heard of him that's your lack of knowledge. Not that great player = great coach of course. Think of the coaches who've been involved in the last decade and who was the best? I'd argue Troy Cooley who barely played a 1st class game. Ask Killa next time you see him what he thinks of the ECB coaching set-up.
5 - The format that brings the most money into the domestic game, by miles. Tell me how they are 'obsessed'.
6 - Well done to the ECB then.
7 - Repeating point 2. It's still bollocks.
8 - Managing the fitness of England players? I mean, just imagine if they'd had criticism for playing too much cricket........

1 - Test matches are expensive, I think the India test at Lords was about £60-£110 a ticket

2- Ok then Durham played 7 county games in the months of April and September. I did say "approx. 50%" so I wasn't far off with my "approx." estimation concerning the county team I support. Piss poor scheduling and no incentive to try and get into the test side when whilst the tests are on, we're too busy playing T20 cricket. Durham played 2 county matches in July. We saw 1 day of scheduled county cricket at home in August 2014 which was the last day of August.

3 - I would say the majority, but that's just my opinion. The leak and this KP fall out has been embarrassing for them.

4 - Downton who averaged less than 20 at test level. Should we get Mark Ramprakash in as batting coach.... oh wait a moment.........

5 - T20, they are obsessed with it in England, yet don't like England cricketers competing in it abroad.

6 - Yes well done to the ECB, but they should never have changed it.

7 - No it's not bollocks. IF the test team are doing shit, you can hardly look at the county scene and think "He's doing well", simply because their is so little county cricket alongside the summer test series against India, we're all too busy with T20/50 over cricket.

8 - England's next match is 26th November. They play about 6 ODI games starting at the end of November against Sri Lanka spread over 3 weeks. Seems petty preventing players from playing a game over 2 months before an England 1 day game. I know Ben Stokes was disappointed not to play.

I'll also throw in the development squad selections which don't include a bowler who has taken over 150 county wickets in 3 year but includes a bowler who has taken 100 less over the same time and is based in London

1 - Again, it's expensive but an absolute bargain when compared to football. Do you think they should slash the prices down to say £20? Remember, you'll have to slash the funding to the Counties as well.
2 - And as I said, that was an anomaly (I think there was something about the gigs in July and the seating, but I can't remember tbh).
3 - I do agree about the Pietersen thing.
4 - I notice you are ignoring my point about Cooley. Show me how good player = good coach. I like Gooch, mind.
5 - I repeat, tell me how they are 'obsessed'. This is the format that keeps the counties afloat.
6 - So well done the ECB.
7 - It still is bollocks, as shown above.
8 - Centrally contracted players, the single best innovation in recent years for the national team, means players will miss County games sometimes. Not a perfect thing, but there you go.

As I said, you seem to speak to Durham players, so ask Killa what he thinks of the ECB coaching set-up and training etc etc, then report back. Ask Colly as well if you like. Ask anyone whose been involved with the ECB or England in the last few years. Apart from players who have a book to sell.......

Nothing you've said to me so far tells me that the ECB are 'an absolute mess' or 'clowns'. Piece of piss to throw that kind of thing everytime you disagree about something, but when taken as a overall picture it's hard to disagree that the game has moved forward an absolute mile over the last 10 years.

1 - Paying up to £110 to watch England get puzzled by India at Lords isn't an "absolute" bargain. I won't be in any hurry to watch England any time soon in this country.

2 - Very little county cricket was played around in the country during the times I mentioned.

3 - Ok

4 - I didn't have a problem with Gooch as coach, he was treated disgracefully. He was a great cricketer. I said at the time they should have got Paul Collingwood involved.

5 - I've explained how they are obsessed, it's played at the peak time of the summer which makes you think they take it serious then they stop players from going abroad to play T20 so it seems a bit daft as it prevents county players pushing for a place in a under performing test side

6 - Yes but why on earth change it in the first place?

7 - We'll agree to disagree.

8 - It's absolutely stupid to rest a player from a 4 day game over 2 months before a 1 day international.

Ahh, I see. Quote the very top figure for the premium Test of the summer. £40 for New Zealand next year. Reasonable, no? T20 ran from end of May to end of July, not August, County games mixed in with T20, Troy Cooley, central contracts blah blah and round and round we go....

Seeing as you're just avoiding/ignoring most of the things I'm putting to you, I think I'll call time on it here. Off to the pub....

£40 for New Zealand is forthcoming. Tickets at Lords to watch us get beat ranged from approx. £50-£110 which I find expensive just like I find football tickets to be expensive. 7 county games in April/September, tell me when can they impress the selectors for the July - Mid August test series when things maybe need a change?

1. The ECB and pricing for Tests is a problem. The problem is that the ECB auction the games off and a result is that the Counties over bid.

6. Yes, issues with scheduling for County cricket was mentioned a lot in the past summer. Specifically that there were no County games during August and the net result was an England batter having difficulties couldn't be sent back to his county to recover form - the biggest victim was likely Robson, a batter who doesn't score quickly and therefore not as suited to one day stuff as he would be to four dayers.

As I've said ECB not blameless, but after texting that should have been the last of him as far as England are concerned..

discraceful behaviour..

Dear me. All he actually did was call Strauss some names. (Wonder when Broad will be dropped for his part in the twitter crack). He didn't actually discuss anything relating to tactics.

nah absolutely bang out of order, Strauss a good bloke, and didn't deserve any of that. I understand you like KP but you seem to blindly defend him and think he has done nothing wrong at all.

Bullshit....While kp doesn't want to discuss or reveal the contents of the messages it's believed to have been name calling and tactical weaknesses of strauss ( even if people already knew his batting weaknesses )

Even if it was just name calling , the fact that it was to the opposition during the match is shirty behaviour

As far as I know it's only the media who have mentioned tactics, Pietersen has always denied that vehemently. Obviously it being leaked causes disruption to the England team, it would be interesting to know who leaked it. Otherwise it's a private conversation between two mates (and possibly about one particular incident rather than KP's general opinion of Strauss). Are you telling me nobody on here has slagged of their team mates/work mates to their friends? Doesn't mean Strauss and KP couldn't work together, you never like everyone you work with.

I'm not defending KP by the way, he's an arrogant sod who has a massive chip on his shoulder and has made plenty of mistakes. But I think the text thing was blown out of all proportion and in general he's been mismanaged.

I used an example earlier. .akin to say oshea texting man u players at half time. .

Are we saying we would laugh that off as harmless banter ?
Would we fuck:lol:

It's not really the same as half time, a footballer would have to be a lot more focussed than that. In that instance I'd be bothered that he wasn't thinking about the game. If it was say between the 1st and 2nd leg and he texted Rafael saying "Cattermole's a bit of a tosser" I really wouldn't care, would you?

I would actually. ...and it's far from calling someone a tosser. .
Tactics ( how important or not) would be off limits.
He's been asked this week about the messages. .He still won't release what was said.
Should have been the end for him after that.
