I've just this second worked it out, it took ages coz I ran out of fingers. Definitely win and we are safe.

what do people expect to happen at Hove? Is a draw really any good to Lancashire?

We are only safe with a win if Lancs fail to win.

We are 14 points ahead and the win would make that 30, but Lancs could still get another 40 with a win today and in their last match. If we win and they draw today then they could only get another 29 and we would be safe by one point.

Us beating Middlesex helps them as they are sitting 12 points behind them and if Lancs can get a draw today that will be down to 7 and they play each other next.

If lancs draw they go to 148 and if we win we go to 173.

Thats a gap of 25 and would see us safe surely? 24 is the maximum for a win so they couldn't pass our total.
