If a scottish soldier wants to stag on the M6 to stop illegals entering Scotland or contraband, then crack on. I suggest the average young soldier joins for adventure, war and everything in between - won't be much of that if they have to guard the Scottish borders.

Thats what I would think too.
Anyone English serving in the Royal Regiment of Scotland, for example, would be given the opportunity to exchange into a regiment south, and vice versa.
During the transitional 18 months, the island will continue to be defended as it is at present.
 
Scotland would get circa 9% of the UK's military assets (assuming it takes on circa 9% of the UK'S debts).

How or structured those assets would be up to them, the rest of the assets would be pulled south.

Presumably Scotch servicemen would be given the option of transferring to the Scotch defence force but this would all have to be negotiated.

their citizen ship is what they'd have to chose no?
 
I'm hoping they'll immediately re-install the Area Radar place at Prestwick. There's only those of us who moved down to f***ing Mordor qualified to do it.

Send the buggers back home, can't see them being much use anyway.

They've already got an existing contract with the MOD. If they're given the opportunity to transfer services, some might take it. I know a lot of Scottish lads I work with, are staying in the mob to see out their time and get the pension etc.

Do they get to keep Trident then, and it's guardian, our very own Baloo? Missed a trick here haven't we? Should have turned the south dock into a new home for it.
