No real shock been an excellent player for the club and probably over the 10 years been under used, but i think physically he is at the end, especially with a squad with a few other injury prone players.

always a handy player but age catches up with everyone. i like the lad and i think he will be missed, but he has gave his all for durham and i hope he has a canny retirement with his family

retiring from playing or leaving the club totally? would be a great shame to lose his experience and wisdom.

could just picture him, gibson and kileen bringing through the next generation of bowlers, collingwood as head coach and erm..... still looking for a batting coach, any takers?:lol:

but then i'm an old romantic and still hope quinny comes back as manager one day, with skp as his no 2

Couldn't get better than Michael Hussey as a batting coach and that's what you'd call a dream team.

Think it's right to call Breese a Durham Legend. The term legend is very over used but I feel it's right for this instance.

In terms of the titles we've won, he's contributed to them all and then some.

If we can't find a role for him somewhere within the club it'll be a shame - if that's the case then I hope he greatly enjoys his retirement.

He was looking his age in the field last week. Great player, who has saved us from defeat and added important runs down the order. Goodluck to the lad whatever he decides to do.

Its sad he has lived a couple hundred yards from the WEAR most of the last 12 years but still calls himself a jordy on twitter

Benks could be the toilet attendant!

I absolutely love Gareth Breese, I'm 25, and he has just always been in the team
