seems an odd choice to select the lad if he has been struggling with illness.

He took ill last night after the first days play, several of the lads have suffered over the past few days, hopefully no one else will catch it for the rest of this game.

they've clearly poised some of our lads. disgraceful

Wouldnt suprise me. Noticed its routine for them to be drinking alcohol and/or eating shite on the eve of games. Probably a different subject for a different day.

aye wait until the next game we lose and bring it up again

just from what i've read on here he will not be eligible to play as an overseas next year due to lack of international action. real shame as he has been superb for us.

I'm sure this is the case and is the reason Copeland wasn't brought back for Northants?

Really? I've been around at the end of the day when the players come into the bar for a post match team get together and hardly any of the players appear to drink alcohol. Then they all go off on their separate ways, gathering up their families on the way ..... does this mean they all get together later for an evening drink and fast food frenzy?

The forecast is poor for today, it's not raining at the moment but showers are due to come and go all day.

The pitch played well for the most part of yesterday although the ball popped off a length every now and again from both ends as the day wore on, and the turn out of the footholes was a problem for the lefties.

We can't afford to let Lancs get too far ahead as setting a defendable target for their second innings is going to be tricky, our top order will have to bat better than they did first time and stick in and graft for their runs. There was too many rash shots in 1st innings that gifted them wickets.

Won't be the only ones. I came across the Middlesex team in a service station after their Yorkshire hammering eating Burger Kings. Morgan slightly more classy going with a Subway. But haway

At the monent I'd have to say the rain breaks suit us more than lancs. If we come out of this with a draw that would be a decent result for the way we've played so far. Lancs had batted far better then we did, they've been more patient and have grafted for their runs. We haven't bowled badly as a whole, Scotty Borthwick went for a few fours when trying to bowl with a wet ball, and we haven't had any luck, a lot of edges have gone for fours.

It looks like the bug is making it's way through the team with Hastings and Borthwick suffering today, at one point Borthwick was throwing up on the field.

That does not bode well for us ... hope they're managing to contaminate the Lancs players :(

I wouldnt like to discourage any of the lads from having twitter but it really is an eye opener. I wouldnt say they arent professional but in comparison to how good english football teams monitor their players diets/fitness/pre-match build up - it is a million miles different.

81 runs first innings deficit - have to bat out for the draw now. Could be some squeaky bums in the Durham dressing room tonight and tomorrow. More than there are already anyway

Stoneman's on a mission - hope that he doesn't throw his wicket going for quick runs, we need a very level headed batting performance from all the top order batsmen here ...

He'd faced every ball after the first 3 overs I think! Just balls to be hit too. Not necessarily aggressive.

Spin on after just 5 overs .

Spin from both ends after 8 overs :eek:

35-0. Trail by 46.

37-0 after 10. 8 left tonight.

41-1. Bastard.

59-1 at Close. 22 behind. Not a bad little session for us in fairness. If we can bat a little over two sessions tomorrow that should be enough. Alternatively, come out and score 220 or so more and it should also be enough. Can't see Lancashire feeding us runs to set up a run chase - so it's clear that a draw is the best we can hope for.

In the circumstances, it'd leave us 10 clear of Lamcashire with a game in hand. With four games to go.

In other news, Notts, having bowled Northants out with one over remaining in the day - sent in a nightwatchman.

Lancs probably need the win more than us, Chapple was saying last week they've got to win this one. They might look to contrive a result but I don't think we'll be interested unless it's stacked massively in our favour.

Definitely need the win more than us, but they'll no doubt feel their best chance is to bowl us out inside two sessions or so tomorrow setting up a last session run chase. That's why I'm thinking we need to get our lead up past 200.

Yes definately, we need to bat till as close to tea as possible and get 250 ahead, Lancs best chance of staying up is to beat us. I think they'll chase anything we leave them.
