cheers. now an interesting session for cook. robson as well. if it stays swinging he is vunerable

It doesn't matter what happens for Cook to some degree. Suspect the selectors may have itchy trigger finger for Robson though.
agreed. for cooks own personal performance. he wil want a not out today, just for himself. as for robson, the lad appears to have a problem with a swinging ball, who doesnt, but i hope he plays well.

Will get absolutely destroyed by good attacks.

Hopefully we never have to see him play the aussies.

Maybe....but the lad deserves his chance, battled quite well tonight I thought.

With Broad coming in at 10 that so a strong batting line up in this test.

Give him a chance I say. A proper run in the team to see what he's made out of. You never know he might overcome his problems?

Who are the alternatives?

Carberry? Backward step

Hales? Not ready for test cricket. Even though I reckon he might be ready in a couple of years.

Chopra- Good shout. I like him, but can he step up?

Bell-Drummond- Young and has potential

Moeen Ali- Can open. But I reckon leave him at number 6 for now till he finds his feet.

Vince- Probably my shout if we drop Robson

Hales or Lyth

I'd of agreed about hales but he's hit 741 runs in 8 matches in the championship with an average over 50 and a sr of 70 odd. Then lyth top scorer in the championship and has looked superb has more shots than robson who appears to have very few.

Forgot about Lyth I like him too. I hear what your saying about Hales. I love the bloke and hope he has a long succesfull career with england. But the lad needs to score buckets of runs for a couple if not a few seasons not one, before he is considered for the test openers slot imo of course.

i said earlier that two hours would be important for cook and robson. cook had a big slice of jam with that plumb lbw so i hope he goes on to a big score again like at the ageas. robson unleashed some lovely cover drives and i am looking forward to tomorrow to see him continue

woakes bowled his best spells in tests today imo, lovely line and swing. jordan was not so accurate but when he gets it right, wickets come. overall a massive improvement from the lords debacle.
