Borini

Borini thinks he's too good to move to Sunderland on a permanent basis - he isn't.

Quite possibly, but Borini must have hinted to the club he would/could be interested in a move! At least it will now be resolved quickly

last nights forces our / his hand
he must now think that hes cursed at liverpool, hardly ever starts but keeps getting injured
liverpool must be sweating about loosing out on 14m, on an injury which in hindsight could scupper the deal, was it worth the risk in taking him?
we've a massive descion, in as much that do we heavily invest in a player who could be out for two months
his agent must also be sweating as all hos ploys are now worthless as his client is crocked during a trasnfer window

“We need to be honest about Fabio because the more time that goes past it looks like less chance of it happening, but then some people say that the more players Liverpool sign the better chances we have of signing him,” said Poyet.

“Who is right or wrong? We don’t have a left-back and we need one now. We need the pace we were looking for from last year now. We need the midfielders too. There are things we need to do – right now.

“I have been saying something is very close, but when some things don’t happen it isn’t happening for a reason. We will move on from a few things and if we find the right person then it’s meant to be.”

All straight from the horses mouth so to speak. I know there's lots of rumour and counter rumour on here but you can't get a better source than the manager.

That could be all part of the game tbh, nobody knows really. Thats exactly what i think Borini is at the minute, us / Liverpool / Borini's agent playing off against each other, with Borini stuck in the middle to some degree. Lets hope its sorted one way or another over the next day or two, then we can move on if need be. Same applies to Alonso.

i posted before i'd seen this, didn't realise he'd been injured last night. That fucks things up slightly then doesn't it

But the manager is playing them in pre season, knowing that his is very unlikely to keep them. Rodgers could be the same, That it is like the Borini situation. In the past, he has played players like Downing in pre seasonwhen he had an offer in, and then they left.

Your argument is logical, but doesn't apply to Rodgers.
Of course it applies to Rodgers. Name a single player he has played in a friendly the day after accepting a bid especially one for a lot of money.
Playing players you haven't accepted offers for is common sense and usual.

This

Within the next 24hrs he will either be flying to Portugal or the club will withdraw the bid.

If Borini wanted to sign for us, he wouldn't have even been playing pre-season friendlies......Borini could be out for months, unlucky Liverpool, for all their riches have just spunked £14m, no one else would have paid that price.......

Go for that young Belgian Orji ? Cheaper and use the same argument he'll make more starts for us than them, let's piss on Rogers chips......

shoulder injuries are tricky ones recuperation times vary from patient to pateint.
depending on its severity, 1-3 months+

'It's not as bad as first thought,' said Rodgers, speaking after the game.

'He has only bruised it. He will miss a few days. He won't train for the rest of the trip but it won't be anything serious and he will be okay.

And whilst we are quoting stuff -

"Sunderland have agreed a £14m fee with the Reds, and Poyet said: "There are a lot of things to look at and unfortunately, I can't comment on those.

"We're involved in negotiations and you never know how long that can take. We're still hoping to close the deal.

"It's up to Fabio. We've been clear, everything is fine, there's no doubt about his connection with our club, and me and him get along fine.

"There's no reason for it not to happen."

Its nowt like it man ffs, you wont find many players another club has agreed a deal for go on to play two games that mean nothing at all. That shows a lack of respect towards us from liverpool and that the deal isnt looking like happening.

Are you sure?

He didn't say that about the Borini deal, he was talking about our transfer activity in general.
Look above mate he said the borini bit last night after the game.

What he said was ...

It's not really a surprise that the last part of his statement was cut on here.

I think if we do sign him it won't be until deadline day, when Liverpool and Borini may have a clearer idea on his immediate future and also things get a little desperate/hectic.

That said, this injury could mean he doesn't play until then anyway.

..... or a couple of days if it's just bruising.

(According to Brendan Rodgers when talking about Borini last night).
rodgerts can really make those calls without assessing it over the next few days.
he's going to underplay it, otherwise it could be argued that he shouldnt have played him when a deal is close ish
