Ali doesn't offer enough to justify his place for me. If we're going with part time spin, is he any better than Root or Ballance?

Root for me, is a natural number 3 and Ballance is a natural number 5.

Not saying he's a match winner but offers good control and chips in with wickets. The fact is there is nobody who looks anywhere near a potential test match spinner in county cricket. Borthwick has hardly bowled this year so ridiculous to suggest him. Ballance has scored 2 hundreds at 3 and Root got runs at 5 so don't see why you'd change the order. Listening to Cook there he sounds like he's about to start crying, hope he steps down he looks shot.

Im going with Willis' theory that he is still clearly a number 4 or 5 who has just happened to get a few runs. I wouldnt change it for now, but dont see him being a long term third in.
