Id love to think so, but he has had an issue with the offside all the time Ive watched him. His footwork also leaves a lot to be desired at times so he isnt even able to get himself in positions to pull the ball from off to on (like KP could for example).
8000+ Tests runs can't just be down to bowlers putting it in his favourite areas.....he's better than that. I'd rest him for the remainder of the series and bring him back for the WI tour next year.

Im not sure, as daft as it sounds. He always seemed a player who got big scores without ever playing many good shots (Id still have him scoring 1s and 2s all day mind). I think it has taken this long for teams to finally realise A) he is very uncomfortable on the offside at all times and B) he very rarely gets out to spin. So now its quicks all the way, on 4th stump.

I hope you are correct though. Id like to think when he loses the captaincy (which he will) he can just get back to finding some way of getting runs.

I reckon there's some truth to what your saying here but he deserves the chance to prove that this isn't the case but I think that chance should come after a break and without the captaincy. The West Indies would be a perfect place to come back. I think the ODI's although initially successful for him might have muddled his game.

when gooch and flower departed it has finished cook. does anyone seriously think his technique can be improved by moores? not in a million years.

would giles have done a worse job than moores et al?

pathetic

As a batsman I thing he's excellent, he is just having a rough patch. I never wanted him as a Captain, and still don't, he just comes across a stuttering halfwit most of the time, as for the on field stuff, he looks like little boy lost.

Cook and Moores will be gone before the year is out.

Cook should have been gone after Ausrtalia. Baffling that the kept the twat on to take us even lower in the rankings.

As I said in January, we should have paid whatever it took for Gary Kirsten. Failed coach + failed captain = predictable results.
