Still certain he will sign, but if something did go drastically wrong and he didn't, every club now knows we've got £14m to throw about and will up their expectations accordingly.
 

I have just had a terrible thought which I really hope isn't true but I might as well share it anyway.

Imagine Brendan wants to keep Borini but the club are keen to sell him, we put a bid in for more money than any other club are likely to bid and the club agrees the fee. Brendan then tells the media about the transfer agreement made with us (with the money involved putting other clubs off) and tells Borini to refuse the contract and sit tight and he will look after him and get him in the team down the road.

If this is true it would be a master stroke by Brendan (and we should kill him) but I hope it's just my over-active imagination.

that exact same thing happened with crouch, done all the talking and agreeing with the club then he fucked us off, was even worse cos crouch had came up and spoke to bruce

Aye unfortunately I think your right.
If he was gonna sign surely he be up here for talks then away to Portugal for the pre season with us not going to USA with Liverpool.
Gutted.
Just been on SSN he doesn't want to rushed and still would like to fight for a place at Liverpool.

Yep, you do get the feeling safc are the 'nice guys' of transfers. Always obeying the rules, doing it right.

'Arry would have had borini spoke to weeks ago and tapped up in a nice little bow prior to club making official bid

Rodgers just took Liverpool as close to a title win as they've been for 20 years. If he wanted to keep Borini he would say to his board "I want to keep Borini", and they would have turned down the bid. That doesn't mean Borini's going to sign for us, but I certainly don't think accepting our offer for him is the first step in a master plan to make sure he doesn't leave Liverpool.
 
he may still sign but to me the omens don't look good, we've agreed the fee so there is no need for him to go to the states so he obviously isn't keen

That depends, he/they may have accepted a bid because it's above their valuation of him, doesn't mean he doesn't rate him or he won't have some opportunities. Rodgers clearly rates him I guess the decision for borini is does he want to be a squad player at Liverpool or a key player here. Wouldn't surprise me if he would prefer to stay at Liverpool.

Yeah I hope your right, just trying to make sense of what's going on but I guess we can't because none of us know the facts.

BR is obviously close to Borini so hopefully he will have sat him down a while ago and said it doesn't look like your going to make the team, you could do a lot worse for yourself than going to Sunderland... :)
