£14m is a lot. I like Borini, he's young and hard working and is definitely an asset. However, we've signed a player we already had last year and in sense haven't improved the side despite shelling out a small fortune.

Remember the Wickham deal was £8m rising to £13m. If we've got a proven premier league striker for less than £10m rising to £14m then I don't think we've done too shabbily.

That's a weak argument though as if we didn't sign him we'd have gone backwards, or had we signed someone else would also have stood still in that sense
