2nd Test - England v India

Harsh on Ali - he has done enough with the bat to stay in the team IMHO

According to Michael Vaughan. A view that was ridiculed by others as highly disrespectful and highly inaccurate
So you happy to compare that Sri Lanka attack bowling on low slow wickets in England to the Australian attack on home soil.

That's not what I said.

Yet he has shown his ability at No.6 position which England have struggled to fill since colly retired

Only 1 test hundred on a flat wicket though. Stokes is more than capable of batting at 6.

I agree. But Ali is the man in possession and there is nothing to suggest he should be dropped.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Stokes, but don't think it fair people get dropped to accommodate him when they are playing well and he has shown very little this season so far

and last season in honesty

You are comparing the centuries of Ali Ballance and Root to that of Stokes, therefore you have to compare the bowling attacks they scored them against surely that is common sense. I think Root is a fine player but was found out by the Aussies, Stokes hundred at Perth was one of the finest scored by an England batsmen for quite a while.

OK Mrs Stokes. You win

Not just about the amount of runs players score but against what type of attack. Plenty of England batsmen scored runs against moderate attacks over the years and then got found out against quality bowling sides. Stokes showed against the Aussies he had the talent, technique and bravery to bat against them nobody else looked capable. Then they play against an average side and all of a sudden they are back in form when really it was not about form but talent.

Not done himself any favours with a duck wafting at Kumar. Looked the worst of the four seamers with the ball as well.

No and has not scored enough runs for Durham in the last two seasons but under massive pressure in Aussie batted at a level that very few players available to England can play at. When you show that class at 22 you build your team around him yo don't demote him to become a tailender.

I agree. Not sure the ECB sees it that way though.

Morning fellas. Only seen one picture so far but looks like the pitch has got a fair bit of green on top.

Here we go then. Going to have to bat first, I reckon.

Few people now saying don't be fooled by the green top. It's still a bat first and bat long pitch.

Think the ball will come onto bat nice and easy after the first 20-30 overs.

Cook wins the toss. England bowl first. No changes.
