Another flat, lifeless pitch by the looks of it. Is this the ECB's way of guaranteeing 25 days test cricket this series?

The counties need 5 days of income to pay their extortion to the ecb. In preferring 5 days of dull cricket, we're playing right into India's hands.

Bit of a rank bowling performance from 4 of the 5 there.

Interesting that Kerrigan is bowling on the square during the lunch break, with a notable change in action.

We need games to be competitive though - maybe teams could agree to play a T20 or ODI on the 5th day if tests finish early

Has he got a front arm now?

No mention, other than the double loop on his bowling arm has gone.
Clearly he is the man they think is closest to test standard. Another example of a man taking oodles of wickets at county level and struggling at test level. Something needs to be done to make county cricket competitive and not for trundlers. Fewer counties and fewer games with an enhanced club level behind it - similar to state and grade cricket in Australia. Make the games mean something every time

they weren't bothered, too wrapped up in their own bubble. suffering now though
Plenty countries in the same position. Ajmal apart, are there any top class spinners playing test cricket? Plenty of ODI-type who can tie up an end and nick the odd wicket, but no aggressive spinners in the mould of Warne, Kumble or the chucker from Sri Lanka

Always struck me a straight up and down leftie, entirely possible he could be the next Monty. People will judge him on his Test debut, but I think we can ignore that for now.

Nope.

Nathan Lyon is probably the 2nd best after Ajmal...

Just what we needed. Cracking catch.

Edit; was that actually good captaincy from Cook?

Gerrin. Who's this come out dressed as Cook after lunch?
