Once the ball is spotted and Krul is stood on his line it shouldn't matter though if the lad is mentally strong enough. If he isn't then Krul did exactly the right thing. Really is much ado about nothing in my opinion. Only reason it's stirred the debate it has is because of who Krul plays for.

what if as part of my penalty taking routine i run up and kick the keeper, the ball is nestled in the net and not in play so the penalty stands?

Well I didn't see his antics, I have seen the saves, but did the players tell Krul where they were going to put the ball?
And Krul was in goal for the Dutch pelantees?

Sorry fella, that was a typing mistake, i meant watch the dutch penalties but put the keepers name down wrong.

I suppose in a nutshell it comes down to whoever commits first. A great penalty taker lets the keeper commit first, even if that means he has no idea where the ball is going as his foot is about to connect. The players who missed committed themselves first so then it was just a case of Krul guessing correctly, which he did. If the keeper stays stock still i promise any reasonably paced strike 2/3 yards either side will do.

I suppose i took it one stage further the other day by showing how top sportsmen recognise what's been offered to them. If you focus on the players centre of gravity that is what you have to beat or simply slip past. Apart from superman no man or object has ever gone anywhere without his CofG.

Not at all, there were times where the ball was spotted and he was still chirping on. Also, for me, nothing to do with who he plays for. Just think it was over the line and should have been stopped by the officials.

Did you write on here during the euros in 2012 when Hart was pulling faces at the Italians as they were running up to the ball? Surely just as off putting. Or perhaps the fans behind the goal should stay perfectly quiet and not wave arms around incase it puts the players off?

for any penalty, as soon as the ball goes on the spot, it's live. If the keeper wants to dance around his six yard box, go for a drink, fasten his laces or scratch his arse then he can but the ball can whistle past him

I have no idea what I wrote about in 2012. The officials can not control the crowd but they can with the players. That is there job. They never did it.

well where do you draw the line? krul is and always has been a terrible cheat, fair enough it's his game and it works but if we do nothing to stop it we'll see pardew and pulis with players like krul slowing games down and turning the game into a farce.

We changed the back pass rule because in some cases Liverpool were ruining games after taking the lead.

Every team slows the game down when it suits their purpose. How many sides make a substitution with about 30 seconds to go to try and run clock down if winning by odd goal? Goalkeepers hanging onto ball longer if winning yet if losing it's down the field in blinking of an eye!

I don't think Krul did too much wrong in terms of gamesmanship. I doubt there was any direct violation of the rules. A bit of leg stretching and eyeballing, nothing for a professional sportsman to worry about, unless they're seriously weak willed.
I suppose if the authorities wanted to clean things up a touch they could make a rule that the keeper must remain behind the 6 yard box extended line at all times. That would remove any close quarter conversations and simple to apply. The keepers already have to stay in a certain area when the kicks are taken so including their entrance/exit walks should be easy, especially with the pitch markings already there.
Seriously though, any proper penalty taker should use Krul's antics to their own advantage.

You certainly don't draw the line at a keeper having a word with an upcoming penalty taker in order to gain an edge that's for sure.
Probably draw it a player missing a penalty then proceeding to boot the keeper in head in order alleviate his frustration I'd say!

We are just as bad as the next team for gamesmanship and so we should be. Get no points for being all magnanimous.
Much as all fans feel refs give them a rough ride and that the media are constantly against them they can't see that it cuts both ways.
