Colback away?

Would do well there and would suit West Ham very well - no requirement for him to attack or have an influence on the game, he just needs to keep possession, avoid making mistakes, and get the ball out wide. Right up his street.

£20k a week is not bad in this day and age. If he leaves we'll need to spend £5-6 million to replace him plus wages so it's a no brainer to try to keep him. I really hope he stays but if he wants a new challenge somewhere else there's not much we can do.

That was pretty much my thinking.

I have no idea what really goes on at the club but I was under the impression that he was happy to stay with us but wanted to improve his wages as he has been one of our lowest paid players.

According to the papers he's asking for a million pound a year.

Am I right in thinking that this will be 1m/52 = £20,000 a week?

If so it doesn't sound a lot of money given some of the figures I have heard that players are on, surely it will cost us more in transfer fees to replace him wont it?

We don't know if the papers are right, we don't know how much he wants as signing on fee or if he wants to have the guarantee that he will start most of the games. Like a lot of people said, our main goal this summer will be to bring in better CM's, it's absolutely clear that in that area we have the real problems. So even if a new signing will cost us more than keeping Colback/Larsson it makes sense to try and improve that area rather than offering much better contracts to our current average CM's.

Meet his demand of 1 mill a year and offer him a 4 year contract in my opinion we would struggle to sign a decent midfielder for less than a 4 mill signing on fee let alone wages

if there was any truth in the £20k per week claims, then we should be more than happy to pay him that considering what Phil Bardsley has been taking out of the club.

Also, a little bit of simple budgeting shows that players of Colback's ability on £20k per week would give us more than enough of a budget for the signing of the real game changers. The fact that we spent £58m a year in wages in 2012/13 shows that we certainly have players earning well in excess of £20k per week, but how many of them have really proved to be worth it?

I reckon he fancies staying..he's delaying until after honeymoon. After that he'll be buzzing and want to stay as he's a Massive Lads Fan

The lad is pissing me off a bit now, we have made him an offer, if you don't want to stay just fuck off.
