That probably says more for how good the standard is in this era as opposed to how brilliant a batsman/keeper he is/was.

Matt Prior averages 12 more than Alec Stewart iirc.

Yet he isn't fit to tie his shoelaces in terms of technique, glovework & knowledge of the game.

I appreciate its an unpopular opinion but just saying...

Let me get this right, Prior averages more and has taken as many catches in same period of time yet isn't fit to lace Stewy's boots?

OK then, who replaces Prior?

Do you not accept the standard of test cricket over the last 6 or so years compared to that of the 70-90s is utter dogsh•t?????? Thats all im saying.

Great bowling, late this afternoon, the aussies were 147-1 ! ...never say die from england 8-)

After a bad series? No thanks, he's by far and away our best Test Match WK.
Foster and read are far better keepers so thats utter tosh.

Prior is no longer doing it with the bat

It's not unpopular at all read and foster are 100 times better keepers sadly they've been unable to handle themselves with the bat when they've had their chance.

england had a piss poor bowling attack when stewart was keeper bowling at far far far better batsmen so the amount of catches is irrelvant. And then prior has batted against far far far worse bowling attacks than stewart[DOUBLEPOST=1376334588][/DOUBLEPOST]

easily foster can stand up at the stumps to 80+ mile an hour bowling take a catch and then stump the fuckers for good measure.

and nobody doubts read's class with gloves either. If you honestly think prior is anywhere near the keeper than these two give up watching the sport mate.

Quality 'keeper is Foster, still much rather have Prior, one bad series won't change my mind on that.

Its always the same man. A player has a bad spell after years of brilliance and you get shit like that off uneducated cricket followers usually the post 2005 variety. Prior has developed into a fine gloveman who has had a poor series for the first time in yonks. Interestingly as a batsman he was by far our best performer against SA last year, our top runscorer and their attack of Steyn, Morker, Philander and kallis is top drawer in any era.
