A good 0-3 win against the horse punchers but lost 6-1 to villa. However we did stay up...just.

I still would like a another good striker and a creative midfielder..and yes a couple of full-backs.

Agree entirely, still a few weeks to go until the window closes and I believe we we will bring all of them in.

That would then leave us with three when Fletcher comes back and only playing one up front. Not feasible from a money point of view when we've got more pressing needs imho, unless we're intending to go two up front which there's no evidence of so far in pre-season.

So... Panathanikos are skint and want the money........ are we skint as well ? Why go for a loan on a player that we tried for on a permanent deal over a month ago ? Don't think our net spend exceeds what we have taken in on transfers.

It looks like we are back in for Mavrias and also Puruzzi............ and some unnamed English midfield ' general' widely tipped to be Tom Huddlestone. I was quite excited with the signings we made at the start of the transfer window, but now the dust has settled I am not so sure that we are any better off than we were at the end of last season. Remember we lost Mignolet and Rose...... our top 2 performers. Little bit concerned.

 Are you fckin blind ?

We finished 4th off bottom last year where the players were completely unfit and there was rot in the camp.

A lot of the players looked rubbish for most of the season under MON.

Di Canio came in and performed a miracle to keep us up with them same players even with injuries and suspensions he saved us from the drop.

Now we have a lot of new players some young and good prospects and others quality, they are fitter and I think Di Canio has improved the squad.

So therefore by this logic we should be vastly improved from the 4th off bottom last season.

I never thought our players looked unfit under O'Neill. It's clear Di Canio has upped the intensity in training though so it'll be interesting if we see any real improvement from the existing players.

 You didn't?? they looked as if they'd just climbed out of bed, half a yeard behind the opposition most of the time.

The players showed no intensity on the pitch under O'Neill so a lack of fitness was rarely exposed. It was clear to see the rare occasion players turned up for games.

Just look at johnson under O'Neill, he was treading water after 50/60 mins. he couldn't track back. It was embarrassing. Looking back now, we were a shambles.

Lost last seasons two best players and havent adequately replaced them, yes we've strengthened other areas, but its still a valid point.

No it isn't it's a terrible bloody point. You're ignoring all the evidence of the close season just to be "controversial" and have a moan. Weird you like.

Nope. Granted Johnson struggled at times but the others seemed fine. The difference for me was simply a lack of quality and a lack of goal scorers. We were too reliant on Fletcher. We needed to bring in a quality striker in January (easier said than done) but ended up bringing in Graham

In terms of tactics it was defend, keep it tight and hope to nick a goal which resulted in a shocking style of play.
