Mavrias

I really can't believe how worked up, upset and presumptuous some posters get over a couple of potential acquisitions not happening. In years gone by, before the internet and mass media focus, most people would never know if we had failed in attempt to sign a nineteen year old. Mr Short is one of the key supporters of the new financial fair play rules and he will undoubtedly want the club to be on a firm footing in order to secure his long term investments.

Everybody knows what we need and I don't need to reiterate it but we actually don't need a another new winger. We have ample cover in the wide positions. I suspect that De Fanti and co know more about acquiring players than any of us lot and Mavrias may always have been plan B in the event of failing on our Italian starlet and opinion may have also changed when we have assessed the other young players!

Ffs stop talking sense !

A lad I follow who is a sports lecturer and Fa registered lawyer said that deal fell through as player had 3 agents and one of those done something naughty in 2008. That's why we pulled the plug.

One of those agents also tried to jeopardise the transfer of another player back in 2008...Thank God the lawyers got involved back then.

Mavrias' transfer to Sunderland failed because of the involvement of at least 3 agents. 'In the interests of the player' the rules state....

People realise we still have another 30 days to sign players right? Right?

how is he ever going to get transfered then? is he just stuck at his current club for life? ( yes, i know, rest of his career, before some pedantic says )

So why cant the lad ditch the agents...and sign himself as he knows the terms by now.

is he harder to sack?

I'll guess Short has returned from a visit as expected and put the block on players coming in....apart from the 3 players Di Canio mentioned...
Di Canio said somthing like...the board know whats wanted...might get a few extra in when Bardsley Vaughan etc leave..

Whos to sqy that he wont. But we would need to leave the ball in his court to do it. You could suggest walking away from the transfer does that...

all I know is his club pulled the plug...theres a link somwhere about it...surely his club wouldn't jump the gun if they were in contact with our officials about agents...doesnt seem right all of this.

He's probably got a contract with the agents, which he can't break without paying them off.

The agent thing has just cropped up...his club dropped the deal a few days ago saying they had waited too long for us to complete.
I could understand our club not wanting to pay 3 blokes a fee especially when it could amount to a combined £1m...we are all guessing really.

would have thought our club would have checked the agent out first off before dealing with him...
