Essex v England

Shite.

Scratted about like an owld hen for an hour and then surrendered meekly.

Agree with the first bit but it was a hell of catch to get rid of him.

Was impressed with Mills, got one delivery upto 94 mph, bit of potential there. Also seems to have more control already than Saj ever had.

Their legspinner looked canny too, cracking delivery to get rid of Prior.

(mikemanc cannot be bothered to switch from his brother's login )

Past year? Apparently he only has one century in his last 19 test matches.

Drop the fucker, I say.

On another note, I liked the look of that lad Mills. Is he home grown? or another SA import?

Clearly a talented batsmen but just hasn't done it lately.

Is there anyone good enough to come in for him though?

Compton's got two centuries more recently than that ;-) Taylor never did anything wrong.

Bell's going to be bracketed with Hick and Ramprakash. I know he has a better record than both of them but he's got all the shots, just can't get it right between the ears.

Yeah he seems to be going down that route.

Problem is though do you drop Bell now, put in Compton at 5 or pick Taylor and put him in as no.5 or put Bairstow in at 5 and have Taylor in at 6?

I think his form will be glossed over unless we lose a couple of games then there'll be blind panic. Needs a good series though and he'll be under severe pressure if Root and Bairstow play well and he doesn't

The fucks happened to him this past year?

Got too comfortable in is own place in the team. Too confident that he cant be dropped. Needs to knuckle down again

Compton opener. Root middle order if they drop Bell (Will not happen)

I reckon England were expecting more than they got from today like. Top scorer Swann.

The question was posed in the last hour whether Andy Flower would be satisfied (that all his batsmen got a run out). I think he'd be f***ing pissed off. As he should be. We were 212-7 on an absolute featherbed against a mid-table Division Two side. I'm sure he'd have envisaged us somewhere in the region of 350-4 at Close. With centuries for a couple of players.

Only caught a little bit of the game but did it look like our attitude to the game was wrong or just one of those days?

I'd say shite attitude. Didn't seem like anyone (except Bresnan) took much pride in their work. Bresnan grafted hard and looked determined not to get out. Perhaps I'm being harsh but it seemed shambolic to me. Luckily numbers 8 and 9 got us out of jail.

Probably worked out just nice for England actually.

Canny lead, near enough a full days batting tomorrow & all day 4 to bowl them out.

Finn bowled well on that pitch.

Essex players saying that Onions was the pick of the England seamers. He's a very unlucky cricketer with the established pace quartet all ahead of him at the moment. I definitely wouldn't rule out him of playing in at least one of the home Ashes Tests, though.
