The truth of it all is that 'Gatsbys' is not all Sunderland has to offer.

You keep enjoying the sterile environment of national chain restaurants though. I'm sure it's very fulfilling.

Situated on one of the North East's most famous rivers, visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the broad promenade. You are less than ten miles from the historic city of Durham and one of Europe's largest shopping complexes, the Metro Centre. The famous National Glass Centre is within a twenty minute walk along the coastline.

Sunderland is a working class town that has never done pretension.

So what?

Harry, you cannot grasp that its not a town can you, its a City, are you embarrassed to call it a City?

I had to google pretension, I am not so sure you know what that means...probably whooshed...

How many towns/cities are not working class then?

It will always be a town and i will always go down the town. It will always be in county durham. thanks very much.

Sunderland has a very small number of middle classes and very few of them use it's centre.

It's a very working class place. much more than most places in England.
