Excellent Captain of England and a classy opening batsman.

I hope this isn't the beginning of the end of our recent success, I fear the worst though.

great player, man, professional and captain

could be the beginning of the end for england

our batting is weak having not found a number 6, having kp disappear and now having to replace an opener when there is no one jumping out in county cricket, is all in all a massive hole to fill

Solid opening bat and great captain who took England to number 1 in the world.

Really pleased he's getting out now. His powers with the bat have been on the wane for a while, so go now before he's dropped. Classy bloke.

:lol::lol:

That would leave us needing both a number 3 and 4 batsmen.

Cook
Trott
Bell
Taylor
Bairstow
Bopara

Possibly?

:-|

With that top order I would expect to see double figures for 4/5 quite a bit in India.

Our strength in the bowling department isn't reflected in the batting IMO.

No no no no no!

Alternative is moving Prior up to 6, and going with 2 spinners and 3 seamers.

But with the top order looking so weak, I can't see them wanting to do that. If they go with only 4 bowlers, Bopara will 100% will be in as an extra bowler

Joe root for Strauss imo

Struggling to think of an alternative, doesn't help that everyone's averages are knackered due to being under water all summer.

Trott and Bell up a place, Pietersen back in short term. Assuming everything gets sorted.

Great achievements, great captain, great cricketer, great man and thanks for the greatest memory ever of leading a team to victory in Australia. Enjoy your retirement.

Nick Compton's probably the best in terms of averages. Hildreth's a good player too. Just don't pick any Durham batsmen.

Root for me at the top of the order like, definitely.
