Everyone seems to be talking about all things healthy on here lately so I thought I'd get this one in.

I'm asking for tips here, aswell as healthy eating and exercise what else can be done to help this, is there some decent supplements/shakes that I can use or a certain diet to go on, I've been cutting down on fatty stuff but wanted a decent diet to follow. I'm not a propa heffa just looking to loose a few

Cheers in advance

if you want to lose weight then really you dont want to be taking supplements

if you want to lose fat, then if you are weight training you could take protein and creatine to build muscle, as more muscle will burn calories faster

but as you say if you want to lose a few just counting calories and generally being aware and not eating shite food would be enough

BBC2 tonight - Horizon - 1 minutes' exercise thrice weekly - the new way to go. (Wasn't so much to do with weight loss, but made a healthy difference to his body surcombing to diabetes, and diabetes type II has a lot to do with weight etc).

forget shakes and stuff. Unless you are brain dead then you will have a half decent idea of what you should and shouldn't eat. Nearly everything you eat will show how many calories are in it so all you need to do is eat decent foods and record your daily calorific intake. take away from that your base met rate (google it and and there are plenty of site to work it out) and take away the calories burned by any exersise you do, if the total is a minus number you will lose wiegth, ie, you eat 2000 calories burn burn up 2500=-500 . If its a positive you will not. Having a -500 per day will equate to 1lb weight loss per week.

good luck.

No offense to the OP, but this is why we need a sub-forum with stickies.

Also, most protein supplements etc are derived from food anyway, I'd much rather eat my nutrients than drink them...

Honestly, if you aren't an athlete or training in a specific sport, then it doesn't really get much more complicated than cutting down the food intake, cleaning up the food sources and doing a bit of exercise.

Hiit training

That mixed with less eating and I've lost nearly 3 stone in about a month and a bit

Eat exactly the same as you normally do, but reduce portion size by 30%.

That is something I should try.

The other thing is buffets - we usually go to an Indian for lunch at least once a week. This lunchtime it was a hotel buffet after a work training session - they are killers for keeping low calorie/low plateful. Started well with some sushi but then went onto rice with green curry and the killer of desert.

As people have suggested it's simply a case of eating less and doing more.

If you have a suitable room in your house you could do a lot worse than put a treadmill in. Not particularly for running but for walking. Where you would normally be sitting slouching watching tv you can put an hour in on the treadmill and still watch tv, listen to music or the radio, listen to an audiobook or a podcast. Four miles in an hour....about 400 calories.

Saw that on catch up this morning. Very interesting, especially the bit that said you can loose/use an extra 500 calories a day by not sitting on your arse all of the time. That is stand up or walk about while you are doing stuff, use the stairs etc.

slimming world is a good start, our lass did that and after a few weeks she was set with the recipe books but especially if your training you need to eat plenty so if you do slimming world where you can eat as much healthy food like eggs veg chicken breast pasta, then you'll get full and learn not to snack too much

Very interesting programme.

As for weight loss I find it just as easy to lose weight as it is to put on.
